Ran the Bristol Half Marathon on Sunday. Waiting in the pen at the start and a few minutes before we're due to go I notice the guy in front of me pulling on a pair of latex gloves, the kind of thing your GP might wear when he checks your prostate.
Seemed like rather an odd thing to do. It was a fairly warm day, I can't recall seeing anyone else wearing gloves of any description. Anyone know (or would like to speculate) what the reason was for wearing them?

God you can only hope it's not something more sinister. Awkward
Maybe he knows someone else is going to do a murder and he's the SOCO?
Sounds like he was planning to check the back passage of suspected drug mules. No doubt he'd heard that loads of runners were doing drugs.
🙂
Raynaud's syndrome?
Maybe he was a frontier proctologist?
body cavity exam?
Perhaps he's one of those paranoid types who thinks he'll catch germs off the cups passed out by volunteers.
My first thought was he gets cold hands and doesn't want to carry woolen gloves all the way round so just gets a disposable pair.
But imagine how much sweat would collect inside those.
Collecting his own sweat in case the bottled water runs out?
Ewww. I wish I hadn't thought of that now...........
Ooh, you might be on to something there, VDot!
The other possibility was that he had cold hands at the start and wanted some gloves he could bin as he warmed up. It usually takes my hands about two miles or so to warm up on cooler days.
