I have pulled muscle fibres (so doc says) at my calf, not doing running might add more like irish dancing at a wedding or so I thought! still cant believe I did it, broozing start from my ankle now spreading to rest of my leg. doc has given me inflammation tablets. now have this over a week, thought it would be better, but still limping finding it hard to walk and get pains during the night, perhaps this is normal? any ideas how long for recovery and when I can start training...very worried as I am meant to be doing Edinburgh in May. will swimming help?

Bet you don't take your warm up seriously!
bugger.
hope it isn't too serious.
Ok Crooky give me the low down on your warm up....
And if it's not your warm up then are you doing strength training?
PW my warm up starts with a walk from my house uphill to the top of avenue very gentle jog back down, then stretches before I start my run
now one thing I don't do is strength training
Dynamic or static stretches?
Dynamic before and static when home
level 2 football coach so know about stretches
but any help taken
Sorry if I've been a bore, can't make any other suggestions.
how did the swim go?
Not a bore PW, I will take all help given didn't go swimming in the end, thought I would leave it a few days before going
hi everyone,

Crooky do you use a roller and self massage your calfs? I have found this to be very effective injury prevention!
old thread this one FE surprisingly i have been injury free since my op before lanza last year
but in answer, never tried a roller do they work
Sorry just thought it was current as it popped up to the top of the page!
and yes Rollers do work! it hurts like hell to start with but once you get ino it its a "good" pain if you know what I mean!
Whats your hydration like? Cell level hydration with plenty of electrolytes in your water?
