RUNNING IN EDINBURGH THIS WEEKEND...

Hi all

Am off to visit dear Mother in Edinburgh this weekend, but need to keep the ol' base trainin' going... one run of about 1hr 20 (9.5miles-ish)and one of 45-60 mins (5-8miles-ish). As flat as poss for the shorter one...

Will be in the Leith area, just round the coast from Ocean Terminal, but can possibly cadge a lift somewhere else, like a park, if the running's really good.

Can anyone recommend somewhere for me?? (am off tonight, Thursday)

Sorry the Lamb Edinburgh is not a particularly flat place. I have never run there myself apart from the Edinburgh Marathon in 1999, but I often see folks running around Holyrood Park area, around Arthurs seats etc., so you could give it a go for your longer run.

Lamby, I've never been to Edinburgh, but will be running the marathon in June. I think the course passes around that area, you could do a recce for me . If you're interested then they have a map on the official website. www.edinburgh-marathon.co.uk

Aaah wait..i think they reversed the direction this year...so it will take you portobello as I mentioned on URWFRC

Just printed out the course map and can see where Portobello is. The cycle path along Ferry Rd looks promising too...

well not to start with I suppose. The cycle path is quite enclosed and although there will be no traffic its pretty narrow. At least when you get to porty theres the beach and the sea etc.

What time are you running lamb? I'm staying near where you are this Sunday and I'll be up and about for a early run this Sunday. I'll be heading to Joppa (quite flat) then heading towards Holyrood Park and round the Park (not flat at all). You're welcome to join me if you want.

NO doubt you'll miss this Lamb, but "No". I'm travelling to Edinburgh on Saturday for a party that night. I decided to get up for a run on Sunday morning as I love running in Edinburgh.

Inverleith Park is nice, but small so you'd have to go round it several times. Mind you if you have to run all the way up there from Ocean Terminal, that should see to it. Otherwise, go over to Arthur's Seat / Holyrood. If you have a car and don't mind trogging over to Morningside, the Hermitage is nice as well. I'm sure there's another Edinburgh running thread around here somewhere, or try asking in the General Scottish Runners thread...
