Hi
I'm doing The Wall next summer but I'm unsure what shoes are best for the event. The course is apparently 65% road and 35% trail but I don't know whether road shoes are OK for the full event or whether I should go for a lightweight trail shoe?
Has anyone done the event this year or done a similar mixed terrain ultra, and can offer any footwear advice?
I read some people swapped their shoes around the course, but I don't want to carry more kit than I have to if it can be avoided.
Thanks

Road shoes.
There are two hard hills on grass, there is a hell of a lot of road, with traffic going last you at 40+ mph... You really don't want trail shoes. I guess could do trail shoes in the first half and road in drop bag, but seriously road shoes.
I imped through lack of mental willpower at midnight after 55 miles, could easily have finished but really pissed off with myself for over a year that I wimped. But trust me road shoes.
Either road shoes, or a trail shoe that works exceptionally well on road.
Road all the way, no section really requires a trail shoe
