Monique well done on yesterdays 2 mile swim that is some distance and a awsome time, well in my book that is fast, my swimming is slowly taking off but get frustrated when I cant seem to keep technique and become lazy and body starts to sink!!!!
What: 1000m swim ( hoping for a small run later depending on time )
Why: Easy day after yesterdays long run, concentrating on swim technique and tri training!
Welcome Jj - I guess now you'll be posting on every single thread on this website :-)
Same old story for me, so I'll keep it short - calf still dodgy, haven't run in a few days, hoping massage on Saturday has helped, it's feeling a lot better as I walk around, so going to do a few easy miles tonight to try it out.
welcome Jj. Sorry about the phone hippo, but there some men with white coats asking for you ..... Monique, 2 miles in water - awesome, I struggle to make 2 metres before hitting the bottom. Belated congrats to those other fine runs by folk yesterday, esp prizewinners (MM - 7th, Brill) and those taking PB's as part of a training run, Angelis!
To those throwing down ridiculous HM challnges to me, be warned, my HM performance has always been far worse relatively than my 10k...walks off shaking head after reading talk of 1:32, 1:30, 1:29!!!!!! But thanks for the confidence anyway.
What : 8.5mile steady Why : a bit of endurance required last hard : race yesterday last rest : fri
Morning all, lovely bright crisp day here in London E1.
What: a very muddy 15 miles on Saturday, all off road, 9 miles on Sunday at a v-e-r-y s-l-o-w pace - plenty of stretching afterwards. Why: Injury recovery and starting to mileage build. Last hard: 2 days Last rest: 3 days 7-day mileage: 43
Feeling a little nasally with a sore throat - maybe the beginnings of a cold - hope not as I don't want too many more interruptions - a short easy run planned for tonight. Have a good running week all.
Been too busy to post on here for a while, but FLM training is on target and completed yesterday's 15-miler in 2:05 - a surprise even to myself as it didn't feel that hard, and the wind was against me for about 2/3 of the run!
What: Rest day. Why: Mondays are always rest days on my FLM programme. Am aching all over as I managed to take a tumble about 1/3 of the way into yesterday's long run (uneven pavement - don't you just hate it??) Managed to cut my knee (but not rip my running tights, fortunately), graze both hands and bash my hip and elbow as I tried to break my fall. Carried on running immediately - although a bit shaken up - and was OK but overnight I seem to have stiffened up. Last hard: Long run yesterday - felt good but the wind was brutal, and the whole of my run except the middle section was straight into it, which was exhausting by the end. Last rest: Saturday.
Hope you all had good weekends. Step back week this week, so my long run is only 11 miles!
Venom, still got fingers crossed for you, and for my Mr. who is also out of action with dodgy calves.
What: 4miles, 44 minutes, so yippee, it worked. Butt and upper hams not right, but, heck, this is now three months, so that trouble is beginning to become part of the general scenery. Work round it.
Will try 6 miles tomorrow, and if that goes well, plan the rest of the week aiming towards Stamford on Sunday.
Picture postcard morning, complete with kingfisher escort for the last bit along the stream. Sun on its back brilliant against the overhanging dark of the shaded ivy.
WW, it's recovered well, and in such a way I'm pretty confident it was not disc or anything actually spinal. Course of recovery reminiscent of dislocating a rib 15 years ago. Could be that. I'm aware of it, but it doesn't seem to interfere, i.e., not a true running injury.
Stickless- glad you are getting out there, especially as (here at least) it is a bright fine day. Benz- I really don't know how you manage with nocturnal interruptions, I would be the worlds worst on call person- surly silences on the phone and a phone me in the morning if the patient hasn't died type response. JJ- Welcome to training, can't believe you're not a regular already, you are indeed everywhere. Speedie- I have a target time of 75 minutes for the swim in the ironman because in one of my books it said thet if you do over 75 minutes you are one of the slower swimmers and should be starting near the back. I saw that as a challenge.
Well I have decided to do the interval session on Wednesday, in a minute I am off out for maybe 30 miles on the bike, just to keep it ticking over but I will turn it into a brick session and do 6 mile easy afterwards.
Failed to drop in over the weekend - hope everyone raced magnificently, trained mercilessly or recovered relentlessly.
Rest today as it's club tomorrow and race yesterday. A windy, mucky, and generally icky five-and-a-bit-miler. Mediocre performance, not bad, but not great. Finished amongst the same people I finished with last month, so honour satisfied. Will do some decent quality shorter stuff this midweek, after which (as for Stickless) Stamford looms. A high forum attendance expected there.
Monique anyone who swims gets my vote, its sooo boring... what do you think about while swimming two miles? Jj Welcome suprised we haven't seen you here before. Suprised myself last night by doing 8 miles in 56 mins 42 seconds... whats happening perhaps this speed work & hill sessions actually work. Wish they didn't then wouldn't have to do them!

legs a bit tired from yesterday's long run, so will probably take it steady and opt for the shorter club run tonight.

2 mile swim Monique! Thats just absurd. I guess you deserve all the cherry bakewells you can lay your hands on.
