I'm just going with Tom Kerridge's sprout, bacon and chestnut doofer.

Anyone got anything more exciting planned for those green goblins of the festive season?

No, I like mine plain boiled, slow cooked into a stew or chopped up in a stir fry.

I love sprouts, but similar to Screamapillar, no messing about please. I'd go as far as sprout soup which is very tasty, otherwise just boiled. Chestnuts are lovely too! OH makes a nice chestnut stuffing for Christmas dinner, also a stew with shitake mushrooms, tastes great even though veggie! They are also nice on their own as a healthy snack.

Not too sure about the sprout soup, but the chestnut and shitake stew sounds like a goer!

Mmmmmm ... sprouts. Given a couple of minutes in the microwave to blanch and then chopped and stir fried with a bit of bacon, or some chorizo if feeling posh, and served with a dollop of sour cream. I have been known to eat a whole 500g bag, if not in one sitting then certainly in one evening.

Never boiled and watery. They are a noble brassica and deserve our respect.

Agreed. And yes. They tend to be quite round.

Love sprouts any which way. 

Sprout, parsnip & chestnut stuffing sammiches on Boxing Day are waaaaay better than any Christmas Day meal.

Yup, I certainly do sound good when I've got a load of sprouts inside me

Inspired by this thread I've just nipped down to the Co-Op and come back with a bag of the little beauties and the other ingredients mentioned above. That's dinner sorted. Fortunately I'm not on a heavy date tonight.

It's this minus the pastry and replacing the mushrooms with shitake. We had it with mash and I'm 100% confident that a little pile of lovely sprouts would compliment it too!
