I've just popped into Holland & Barrett and they appear to have an array of energy bards available. I'm finding it difficult to distinguish between which offer the more instant hit of simple carbs, and which offer the more slow release complex carbs. Does anyone know of anyreadily available (i.e. not to difficult to source!) energy bars which offer complex carbs?
Essentially, although I've planned my main meals each day, I am looking for mid morning/mid afternoon complex carb snacks to have on Thursday and Friday leading up to Sunday's marathon (I will switch to simpler carbs on Saturday). I can't eat bananas all the time! I won't have time to make anything so it would need to be something hassle free. I was considering rice cakes but I would imagine the 'rice' content is deceptive
Many thanks

Too much fat in flapjack. Go for malt loaf, bagels and honey and sports energy drinks.
...athough not sure how "complex" any of these are!
Are rice cakes not just made of rice (and a tiny bit of salt)? You might try some ryvita.
Oat so simple porridge pots/sachets.
Now, they are complex.
You're making something simple complex. Just eat healthy. Worry more about what you eat 24 hours before.
