There is a guy at our club - V40 now, but one year he ran at the front of the London Marathon. He did this for 8 miles then dropped out.
This was a deliberate ploy - he taped it and watches himself as the commentators are astounded as they have no knowledge of his form coming into the race!!
BR - there are Kenyan brothers who run for Essex club Ilford A.C. (Sam Mully and Amin Koikai) who have done likewise a few times in the late 90s, til the BBC commentators got to know them!
I got the general impression that there are a number of Kenyans etc temporarily resident over here. They appear to enter and win half marathons as part of their financial stability. What's your job? I win races. Hmmm. I guess it's more to do with there being less competition here, but comparitively higher levels of disposable income/prize money. I suppose I'd be tempted if I was that good.

He's a bit of a fruitcake really.
Realised a Kenyan at Roding Valley half marathon. It was Amin Koikai, he was running in Roding Valley half and got 3rd with a 1:11:43.
