I posted this on the Base Training thread yesterday, but my thread got lost in the mountain of threads, hence this more general posting. I would appreciate any advice from anyone in the know, at guessing what HR level my anaerobic/lactate threshold kicks in.
Just looking back on some old HRM stats I noticed that I ran a 10k race last October with an average HR of 184 and a max of 208. I reached 180 after 10 minutes and stayed above there for rest of race.
It was my first ever 10k and I took it fairly easy except for the last 1/2 mile or so when I really caned it (peaked at 208 as I sprinted for the line). I felt great afterwards, I certainly didn't overdo it although I was nicely knackered at the end.
I haven't done a Hadd test yet, but would it be fair to assume my LT threshold is probably >180? As a first guess?
Any advice appreciated. I am assuming by training under 160bpm average I am well within my comfortable aerobic range? Thanks.
