Did Bath Half yesterday (1:52) Wld like to do a local 10K in three weeks. When is it sensible to start training again ( soon as I can walk painlessly! ?) and to what regime ( guessing at mainly speedwork ? )
you can start training straight away, but take it easy for the first week: no speedwork, just easy recovery runs. If you feel fresh enough, try doing some speedwork in the second week (a session like 10 x 1 minute is good for developing speed), but if the race is important you'll need to allow a few days for easy running and/or resting before it.
You won't get a lot faster in such a short time, so concentrate on keeping yourself fresh and do a bit of quicker work to keep yourself sharp. Good luck.
Thanks for that. possibly re-master stairs b4 I take to the streets again! That is my worry that just as I build a sensible pace again, I'll meet myself tapering off. Guess I'll just see how the next week goes.
