Can't do anything about it Glenn... not yet anyway... I've spoken about work-life balance etc etc etc and you get the response "Oh, yes.. yes... we agree. Work-life balance is imperative in this day and age. Let's see what we can do to address this. Oh, before you go, we've got this piece of work to have in four weeks ago. It's only about 4 months worth of work. Can you have it on my desk at 9am tomorrow please. I'm glad we had this chat Gordon. It's important that we keep our people happy... you're one of "our" people, aren't you Gordon!!!"
I'm sorry Gordon, I would walk. I never have a problem with it, because I've always made my feelings clear during the interview process. Any news on the other job yet?
Start later??? Start later??? That would the talk of someone who wasn't a "go-getter", someone who didn't want to be a partner in the firm by the age of 30, someone who wasn't one of "our" people.
Nah, Josie. My official hours are 9 - 5:30. I start around 7:00 - 7:30 and finish when the last train home is about to leave.
Ho hum... musn't grumble... must do something about it!!!
Gordon, I've had jobs like yours. It's really tough. I still work stupid hours, but at least I'm doing something I love.
Josie, thanks for the info on the CC. I've got the details and will register tomorrow.
I was so fed up with my run (ha ha; stagger) this morning (thanks for the sympathy EP) that I'm going out again tomorrow (which is normally a rest day) and taking the mad poodle with me. If it's impossible to run with him, I've lost nothing, as I'd usually be in bed, and if it works, I've got a bodyguard and a fitter dog! I'll let you know.......
I did it I went out in the wind and rain around the golf course and I ran for 6 minutes then I walked a bit then I ran for another 5 and then it started to hail and I was right at the bottom of the golf course - so i thourght (!?) dammit I'll run the rest of the way and with a few little walks I ran for 25 mins (out of a total of 57mins) my feet got very wet , my legs were like pinoccio's and i felt like a cross dodo in splints and i can walk faster but now I'm a runner too Dont feel any different
ps it was all the Tough Guy's fault - i read his thread earlier and felt like a wuss
I managed to give up London Pride today and only had one pint of Youngs Ordinary instead!
Managed to get out and run steadily for 40 mins although have found running on the pavements a bit jarring. Still I've got a couple of days off so can run in the country for rest of week.
Some nutter (Father-in-law) left two big boxes of profiteroles in my fridge. I wasn't terrible but couldn't resist a couple! Is penance needed?
I'm still about, but getting ready to go off to bed. It's 11.20 here and I need to be up by 5am - so nighty-night Gordon and anyone else still out there.

As soon as I get news on the other job I'll be gone.
I've suggested this to Mr J before now and I must admit he looks at me like I'm some sort of alien :-)

Gotta finish by 1am to get the last train home or I'm on an all nighter.
Brave the dark side?
