I've been thinking of joining a club in Edinburgh as I'm at a point in my running that I don't know what direction to go to get more focused and improve. I've been running for around 4 years and have a ten mile race, a couple of 1/2 marathons and one marathon under my belt. Other than that, I don't have any race experience. Mostly I run for fun/fitness and get a mix of road miles and hill runs in. I live up near the Pentland Hills and so have been thinking about joining a club that would suit for road running and in the Pentlands. I'm 42, and want to achieve a certain time goal for the marathon in the next couple of years. I have a group of 2 or 3 fellow runners but more often than not I run alone. Any advice here on a club that would suit? I notice there's also Penicuik running club but not sure if they concentrate only on the hills? I'd also like to try and get my 9 year old daughter along for a wee try and see if she takes to it or not.

You can search by location and it has details of all the clubs' websites so you can have a look or get in touch to find out more about what they do, and if they cater for juniors too. Most clubs will be happy for you to come along and try them out before you commit yourself.
