Any benifits of 5x5 SL

Anyone ran 5X5 SL or a similar program to aid with running ?

I currently can not run due to a leg condition, while its getting testing i'm trying to keep strength and even gain strength overall and my cycling milage has dropped considerably (building back up)

My current plan is to run 5x5 SL until i can (IF) run again. 

I have heard people who squat heavy can run 3 miles no issue without training, not ideal as i used to run the 5k in sub 20 but i'm hoping to hold stength in the area and perhaps gain endurance from it for a good transition if it comes.

    I'm in a similar boat to you and started general strength training a year ago to help with knee tendonitis, which helped in conjunction with rest and cycling. I'm starting SL 5x5 tomorrow, will keep in touch.
