Mike S, don't be too dissapointed mate, a sub-18 clocking is a great time for a 5k IMHO.

WOW, it's a beautiful morning out there ;-)
well havn't posted for a while, as have some fairly big problems on the home front which unfortunately has meant i've not been running. Needed to get my head together a bit. All a bit depressing really, and i'm not intending to be a killjoy on the forums, so won't elaborate. Just thought i'd pop in a say hi, catch up and hope to see you soon.
Oh yeah the training thread. Mmmmmm. May go for a swim, but probably won't.
Good luck any Leeds 1/2M racers tomorrow. I have a number, but wont be there. If i feel upto it i may venture out on the course near home to support.
Have a good holiday Paula.
Hope to be back soon.
Another 5 miles < 70% shortly. Looks like a glorious day for it as well.
Question for those who regularly check their resting HR first thing in the morning - by how much does it tend to vary?
How much do you find a few beers affects it? I know mine can be down around 50 but some mornings it can be as much as 65, a bit weird?
Cheers all and hope things improve for you paul,
Rod
What: Rest (round of golf)
Why: Legs need it
Last hard: Yesterdays run home was very tough
Last rest: 22 days
BLISTERS: YOU'VE GOT MAIL
Great day outside, whatever you are doing have a good'un
So today, I'm strapping on the Camelbak and taking off for a free-and-easy exploratory run. About 12 miles of trails, woodland, hills and canal banks.
It is not exactly "training", but it is definitely what I need to do.
Why: trained 4 days out of 5 this week, with a long run planned for tomorrow so pleased! I'm finally enjoying my running again (maybe it's the obsession with new shoes, BR?!), and the sun obviously helps! Actually managed a run yesterday at 70%, felt great!
Last hard: Thursday (although not that hard, really)
Last rest: apart from today, it was Wednesday.
LynneW, the exploratory run sounds brilliant, wish I could come with you!
I'm having a few computer problems at the moment. My laptop screen is almost black. It makes certain tasks a little awkward. Like reading & writing.
Got up, got out and enjoyed a beautiful session round the Parish. Standard 6.5 miler trying to lift my form back to where it ought to be. Tried to keep it evenly hard if you know what I mean. This weeks times have been...
Wed pm 44:47 (6-53m/m)
Thu pm 45:20 (6-58m/m)
Sat am 44:51 (6-54m/m)
My pb on the route is 44:10 (6-47m/m) Feb19
Physically I feel great, but I'm hunting for that elusive 2%.
Perhaps I should stop looking at my navel, and thank God that I've got 2 legs, a wife, house & family.
Paula enjoy your holiday, I'll go straight over to sign up for the Lakes trip.
BT, Hilly hope the injuries improve soon.
LynneW, that run sounds like the perfect cure, enjoy the freedom.
What:something easy
Why: longish run tomorrow and did a good tempo run yesterday. Starting to feel a bit of speed coming back.
nice to see you posting again Paula - have a nice break
any idea what it is then BT?
Lynne - enjoy - looks a nice day for it
what: not certain yet, but a nice easy 9 miler looks favourite
why: Caldy 2nd XI v St Helens Recs called off - the oppo can't raise a side as they're all off to see the RL Challenge Cup Final.
last hard day: Fri (though feel OK today)
last rest day: Thu
so a chance for some bonus mileage today
An usually high level of "resting" going on today! A good thing maybe- we wouldn't want people thinking we were obsessed would we? ;-)
Paula: enjoy your break
BT/Hilly: good luck with the injuries
BR: hope you survive the meeting!
What: 0.5 mile hill intervals on the road
Why: time for something different
Last hard: 2 days
Last rest: 11 days
Beautiful day so I'm off to enjoy it!
BT, sounds like you need a rest mate.
BOND IS BACK!
Body has recovered from the grilling I gave it Sunday so ...
What: 100 press-ups (split into 5 sets) then some interval with wrist weights
Why: burn off last night's Guinness consumption
Last rest: Mon-Fri
Last hard: Sunday
Good luck to all racers this w/e!
Welcome back Paul, hope things improve.
It's county champs weekend and this year I'm doing the 5,000m. I'll be back with a report later!
What a glorious day it is out there:-)

Paul-sorry to hear you are having a rough time hope things get better for you!!
Hilly-Take care easy does it;-)
Paula will take a look later at weekend trip
Nothing for me resting back was to go shoe shopping came home with........nothing can't find what I want!!all I asked for is flat shoes for work that I can wear with trousers and a skirt;-)
Taking it easy tomorrow will try a long 15 mile run just me and my GPS system;-)
Miles makes smiles.
Progression
It is a glorious day out there but I am going to the gym later.
Couldn't log on last night so just to say for yesterday:
What: 3miles easy
Why: didn't feel up to much beforehand
Felt great afterwards. Lifted my mood no end.
Last hard: Tuesday
Last Rest: Monday
Hope those who are injured get better soon.
Well done to those who raced and good luck to those racing this weekend.
Have a fab weekend.
May catch up later after the gym session.
Paula, enjoy your holiday.
MM, hadn't realised it had be going that long!
Lynne W, that's what running's about!
Mike, my injury is drawing a blank, in my books & on the website's there is nothing at my point of discomfort!
If I was in high mileage I could understand.
Having said that all feels quite good at the moment :-)
Bryan, you should no better than post four letter words!!!!
REST, what does that mean ;-)
MikeB, race well
catch up later!
Paul l, good to hear from you in any case.
LynneW, hope you have a really good run. If it's weather like here, you'll be having a good day for it.
What: 4 miles ish, different track including nice footpaths. I felt a bit tired and flat but nothing beyone what I would count as normal given a (very) long run last weekend. That, in spite of v. annoying neuralgia in left leg last night. On the upturn again.
That's the nice thing about running. You can actually achieve quite a lot if you just don't give up. Strategic retreat's ok, give up not ok.
coming back after a 2 month strategic retreat.
What: well strictly speaking 4.2km done in 55 mins. at leats that was the official length of the orienteering course...however, when you have to find your way through dense forest, soggy marshes (wet feet in May!), and collect 12 controls on the way...not to mention an occasional bit of back tracking...it does take longer than a road race! will find out tonite where I came.
Oh and there were masses of bluebells too.
Have a great Holiday Paula, tell us all about it when you get back..will look at thread.
LynneW- that's the spirit - an indulgent run.
good to see you again Paul - hope things are getting sorted.
enjoy the w/e - gardening calls.
Great session
What: 6 miles am, 20 mile off-rod cycle pm
Why: Race Tomorrow
Have a good day everybody
Paul hope things improve soon, look after yourself.
40 min easy off road run, bit hot out there.
Good luck all those racing!
Chest is well achey.
