Hey all,
Thought I'd see if theres anyone as mad as me out there. I'm currently training to do a marathon in under 3 hrs. I always knew this would a big ask and a huge challenge since I ran NY Marathon in 2001 (in 4:50). I was firmly sane when I decided to do this, but admittedly maybe should've said 3:15 or something. But no, that big fat 2 on the time was too much to resist.
I started training tentatively last June but have only really been training properly since January this year. I've got my PBs down to 31:47 for 5 miles and 1:32 for the Half-Marathon. I'm currently running around 20-25 miles/week.
Not surprisingly I don't have a ready group of friends who are training for a sub 3 Marathon. Hence am a bit stuck now for a training partner. Is anyone in the same position? I live in Sheffield, South Yorks. Drop me a line if you're interested.

*for mad people.
From what I've lurked from other threads I see you're a committed x-trainer. Far more sensible than all this ru**ing lark.
I do prefer to run alone most of the time though - cause then I get to listen to my fav music and not have to talk to anyone!
So my first marathon looms in October, and I'm happily planning a 3.30ish. Needless to say, I'll really be training my a***e off for something nearer 3 and maybe, just maybe, a sub 3 (but probably not!)
So Berti / Dodge, I guess negative mental attitude works in my case ?
