The long and winding road.....

......seems to get longer and longer.

After nearly a year and a half away from running I'm still struggling with a long term injury. So I post this as a warning to others to be very, very careful and as the man says "listen to your body".

My last attempted comeback in january was aborted due to a recurrence of the same problem (Patellar tendonitis). So having spent the last few months being depressed I'm finally back at the sports doctor.

Current review suggest that my patellar tendon is shrinking back to something like normal size. Last year my right tendon (the affected one) was 9.2 mm wide (compared to 4.2 for the normal left knee). This i now back down to 5.4 which the doc says is nearly normal.

He advises strongly against surgery (which I agree with) and has advised a further 2 months waiting (sounds a lot - but when you've hardly run a step for 18 months its a drop in the Ocean).

I remain confident of a return to running although I may have to revise my estimate of running a 10k before my 40th birthday in October.

See you all soon
