Lore is scarey though ed, I like my running books to be titled things like "Running is a piece of pi$$." "Running is one foot in front of the other - a little more quickly than walking." & "No I'm not about to Sh*t myself, I'm a runner. Fool! now get out of my way because I'm about to sh*t myself."
I should really get some sleep after a night shift.
You want Andy Milroy's book, Training for Ultras, from the Road Runners Club. Chapters contributed by top British runners like Don Ritchie and put together by Andy Milroy.
You could do worse than "A Step Beyond: A Definitive Guide to Ultrarunning" order from www.ultrarunning.com. Its American but as you say the Ultra scene is larger in the USA. There are some good books on ultra running available in South Africa, can't remember the titles at the moment but a google search might find something.
