Weight Loss during running.

I drop about 3kgs for half a marathon and about 5kg and more for a full marathon.

Is this normal ? What is the norm ?

Does anyone have any figures or know of research into how much weight one should expect to lose during periods of extreme activity.

How does this affect performance ?

Regards

LM

I lose buggerall - count yourself lucky! Seriously, you will lose weight through sweating so you must keep well hydrated before during and after your races / runs. It seems a huge weight loss... errrrm what is the colour of your urine after a race? It should be pale yellow. If it is quite dark, then you are dehydrated. A note of caution, caffiene drinks are a slight diuretic so can make urine pale, giving a false impression that you are well hydrated.

I think there is a calculation of how much you must drink depending on each pound weight you lose but I don't remember it. I just go by the colour of my urine!
