I ran it with Mrs Pants last year but I'm looking forward to racing it this year. Will be the transition from halfs to XC in January. Unlikely to beat my 5M PB though - it is a tough course if I recall...
Didn't know the Punchs were from this neck of the woods...
Yep Pants we live here, so I'll have to check the course out now as for one reason or another have never been able to run this race, but have no excuse this year tho.
Oh dear think I've confused things ;-0 Who's talking about Tiptree and who talking about Witham, whatever I'll be doing both.
For anyone doing Tiptree on Sunday I'll be in Witham Running vest and number is 268 and hubby is 269 say hallo if you spot us, oh our colours are yellow and black.
I thought I'd better post on this forum as this event is organised by the running club that I run for, and I've recently been made Captain of the mens team. As many local club runners may have noticed there has been a recent upturn in the fortunes of Witham Running Club with 4 or 5 times more runners turning out for recent races. With this in mind this years boxing day race promises to be the best in recent years. I personally am looking forward to this event and I encourage everyone who can make it to this race to come along. DON'T MISS OUT.
One quick note on the course there is only 1 section of the race with an incline worthy of being called a hill as witham on the whole is faily flat. The rest of the course is pretty fast and fast times will be possible (depending on weather and hangovers).
Winning time in the male open category last year was 25.52, the full results can be found at http://withamrc.redirectme.net/oldsite/race2003/Results.html, while you're there you may wish to look at the new website as it is very good and updated regularly. www.withamrc.org.uk
Thanks everyone. Good to know we can enter on the day as who knows we might even have a white Christmas or perhaps just a very 'Merry' Christmas! Hope to be there though as I have only ever raced 10k's or cross country - 5 miles sounds a nice distance and whatever happens will be a pb!!
We also get quite a lot on entries on the day - if you are intending to enter on the day can you please get there earlier rather than later...ta muchly...I'll be the poor b*gger sorting out the entrances on the day ;-)

Anyone doing Tiptree 5/10 on Sunday.
Not sure about a PB attempt post Christmas Day Tilly but best of luck anyway!

See you all there either running or doing a bit of marshalling.

The winning time was VERY good as the course is on the hilly side of undulating, as I recall...
Only worry is the distance to travel, how long did it take you to get there?
Hilly courses do not worry me as such so that would not be a problem!
Last 400m are up a tough slope - ideal for getting a max HR reading! ;-)
Possible I may do this race, but if there is anything closer in London then I would do that, I say 50/50 for this one at this stage
Ta muchly
Quite looking forward to this one as I always struggle on the last mile of a 10k, so should be able to put in a strong finish for once!
