Have decided against the run out this evening. Got time tomorrow afternoon so am thinking of going 6/7 - gradualy get back to a midweek long and increase the distance over the whole week.
Jojo - NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Great news about your running but I am going to be shocking in the triathlon. I am so unprepared! I will be an embaressment! You won't want to cheer me on! Seriously, I am dreading it. More than I am dreading doing my dissertation over the next 3 months!
Thanks Rio. But I only just have the confidence that I will get round. Though maybe I will enjoy it because I have very low expectations of what I will get out of it!!!! Plan of attack for my training this week though....
Tues: 5.5 - 6 miles at lunch Weds: 40 minutes swim before work / circuits session after work Thurs: Bike into work (9 miles) (and probably bike home to save the train fare!) Fri: 3-5 miles running at lunch time Sat: Hopefully a swim Sun: 2-3 miles & circuits (I think the gym is starting a new class!)
Anyone who has seen me write up my planned week before knows I normally over compensate so I can drop a session or two and not feel guilty. This time though, I don't think I can skimp on anything! (though Saturday's plan doesn't sound very genuine does it?!).
Well, I went to the pool this morning and I thought "right, 16 lengths. How much is it really going to kill me?!" So I did 16 lengths. Quite pleasingly it was completed in about 12 mins (the time I put on the entry form!) but I did push quite hard for about three lengths because there was a woman in front of me who I felt was going to slow me down so I swan along side her and tried to overtake her and then I had to keep the pace up so as not to feel stupid! It was ok though and lots of front crawl didn't kill me like I was expecting it to!
Did a few more lengths - just arms, just legs, some more crawl or breast stroke. Wasn't in there too long cos I need to cnserve some energy for circuits later! Being very good foodwise too. Just hope I can keep it up!
Hi Jen - many thanks - had a 2nd interview for a job that will mean a great deal for me so wanted to pull in a few extras to push me over the line. Quite intensive 21/2 hours...
You are going to be just fine DB! Bet you told them they couldnt survive without you!! Long interview that though! Any idea how long you have to wait? How many are you up against and what is the job?
Jen I cant imagine swimming 16 lengths of crawl at the moment!! You are going to do just fine all the training you have done!
Think it could go either way - love me or no thanks but I'm in with a chance and the whole two and a bit hours "felt" very natural.
This was the second interview and I got the impression they were seeing others but maybe one or two not many.
It's probably a bit too senior for me anyway..
I'll email you tomorrow when I'm back in the office but I hope to know one way or another on Friday....or the decision will be known Friday and I'll have one of those weekends of torment!
Jen - I'd be good at floating sixteen lengths...possibly!

Rio - great racing! You'll be under the 60 min. barrier in no time
Thanks Jojo. I could have done under 60 this time but was taking it easy and did walk a couple of times.

Need lots of positive thoughts coming my way for a few hours!!

It's just aswell you're running on Sunday...cos Tergat has pulled out and I'm wondering if I should enter on the day!!
<<sniggers>>
I am sure if you get to the start early enough you will have time to register and sort out your chip!
Next year..
For now I'm doing the "cross training" I should've on Sunday night but was too busy (ahem) swotting up on my next adventure!
