Right sided rib pain

I was on the last 5 miles of a half marathon when a pain gripped me around the right side of my ribs it was like my rib cage was being prised open with a chisel. It has happened once before and once since. I ended up having to walk alot of the last 5 miles adding 6 minutes to my anticipated time. Any ideas?
