Hia,

the temperature has plumeted here in Amsterdam. My evening run is held in -7C. A small problem, a very small problem. How can I keep my bits from freezing ? You know the bits I'm talking about guys. Does anyone know of any product designed for guys that do not wish to resort to a sock ?

Totally agree with you on this one Bat, But I dont have a clue of any products. Luckly its only 1.5c here, so bits not fallen off just yet - but they were deffinately thinking of staying at home yesterday !!

Have you any elderly relatives (Gran, Aunt)who enjoy knitting? This would be a challenge for their skills, and would solve that awkward Christmas present problem for them.

More seriously, frostbite, of a very unpleasant nature, is a recognised risk for cross-country skiers. Maybe a visit to a winter sports shop would be worth a go?

Yeah I guess you're right. A visit to a winter sports shop it is. I think I'll lay of the Ralgex unless of course I'm looking for that PB. Until then a sock it is. Why is it that all winter sports shops are served by young ladies ? How the hell do I ask for a willy protector ?

If you've been using the Ralgex you won't have to ask for anything, they'll guess immediately from the way you walk into the shop.

What's wrong with socks anyway?

I'm not called bat limbs for nothing ! :-)
On a serious note, the socks are fine for a short run. However they do have a tendency to slip down a leg. Not very attractive in tights !

Surely wearing a wooly hat would keep your core body temp up and therefore keep your "extremities" reasonably warm ?

LOLOL ! I wear a hat (on my head). It still doesn't keep the extremities warm. Believe me ! Let's face it there is only two or three layers between the sensitive bit and the freeze. I shall experiment and let you all know the answer. It may not be pretty but I WILL find a solution.

Don't laugh at this one, i'm serious. My uncle used to be a builder and wore my aunts wooly tights under his trousers but still suffered cold 'bits' so my aunt crocheted him a woolly willy warmer. It apparently did the trick. Not sure how it would work for running though. It was (i can remember seeing it, but not in situ) rather like a 'thong' type of undies made in best quality baby clothes nylon type of wool. Perhaps your granny is the person to ask?
(Do grannies still knit and crochet these days?)
