I am considering using the WRP FLM service which includes accomadation, coach to London plus runners coach and spectator service. Sounds good, has anybody any experience of using it? In particular whats the spectator service like?
I looked in to this and it seems pretty good. They got a lot of good comments from other users of the forum. Just wade through some of the accomodation threads and you'll pick them up pretty quick.
I used them last year as an independent traveller and they were great. Well worth the lack of stress.
But my advice is come to London on the Friday and take it easy, and not have the stress of arriving checking in and having to go and get your race numbers on the same afternoon. They will organise extra nights for you.
If your original question relates to my original question then the answer is www.runnerswebuk.com !!!! I've now booked with them, seem very efficient and friendly.
Hi Barbara, I booked with WRP last year. My experience was as follows: 1) Was told there was no coach going from my area and only offered £8 off the cost for the inconvenience. Travelled as an independent in the end. 2) Novotel Hammersmith was good and the pasta party in the evening was excellent. 3) Quite stressful arriving on the Saturday and then having to collect number, especially when some of the tube connections were not running and we had very little experience of using them in the first place. 4) Our coach to the race start didn't arrive due to breaking down so more stress worrying. In the end had to be placed on to spare seats of coaches passing from other hotels. HAD A HEADACHE BY NOW! 5)The organisers were very helpful and did put right the coach problem, but for me it certainly was not stress free. 6) Nice shower and free massage when you get back to the hotel after the race. BEST BIT!!
Good luck I'm sure you'll not have any problems, it was just one of those things. Although I do think WRP are expensive.
Cliff Diego-I've stayed at the Union Jack Club for a couple of marathon visits. It's fine, easy to get to the start from and pick up number. Only about a mile from the finish, so nice COOL DOWN! A free shower and baggage storage. It's also cheap. I've booked there for next year and they are already full. We couldn't get a double room, so have had to book 2 singles. Obviously very popular at marathon time.
My husband is a member, so I just get him to do the booking. Left it a bit late again this year though, so have to make do with single rooms. Still cheaper though than some of the hotel prices in London!
