No training for me, 1st will be on Monday.
I did an hour on this today and kept at 70rpm comfortably for and hour and covered 16.65 miles, I needed some form of a bench mark I spose, how was this???
good, bad, indifferent!!!
try to get a much faster cadence, around 95-100 rpm.
try to make sure that you apply pressure evenly right round the pedal stroke, eg don't just push down. doing a few minutes one-legged drill on each side can help with this.
other than that, great.
I am good at one legged things :-)
Seriously..?
I can swim. I can bike. I can run.
I haven't run a marathon. I haven't biked 112m. I haven't swum more than a 2m stretch a day a few years ago. BUT, I did kick cancer's arse and I DID used to cycle to work every day (40m there and back)
Well..?
Hm.
All I need now is someone to talk me into it.
So... this is the girl who... academically skips Masters to go to PhD
So... why should this be different..?
Right..?
Skip the swimming and marafun to go straight to Ironman..?
OMG.
(thinking)
;o)
I'm sure one of this year's IM had never run more than 15 or 16 miles - Lindi maybe??
Andy - can you email me. I need to really THINK about this seriously - cash, training etc. I'd LIKE to do it. But I need to see what I realistically need to do.
Do any of you have a life?
C A D - I did a PhD. before a masters - it's more efficient that way. Just get your name down on the definite list. It's more efficient that way too, compared to endless e-mails ummming and aaaaarrrhhhing when you know you'll do it in the end.
This week's Training:
4.1M swimming, 42.5M biking and 76.3M running, 13.2 hr total. And 2 currys and a chinese. And 12, no 13 pints of guinness.

(does ceilidh dancing count?)
just been to MK 1/2M to stretch my legs in a different bit of the world. I was DETERMINED to run it at long slow run pace, as this is meant to be the down week in my long run cycles. All went well, set off neaer the back to make myself steady at the start. About 7 miles in decided I needed a pee - looked around for a suitable bush, but decided to get a bit of distance from a cluster of guys just behind before stopping - so sped up. So did they. I sped up a bit more. So did they. I got cross, and started kicking a bit. Couldn't get rid of them. At about 11 miles it transpired that none of them had a watch and were using me as an 8m/m pacer! Had to break it to them that the last 4 miles had been nearer 7:10 - upon which they decided they could do with a little rest, and very kindly waited for me while i made my comfort stop. And so to the finish. Not quite what i'd had in mind, but all good fun.
:-)
