hrm advice

just got a shiny new hrm (polar f6f) and went out for a little plod with it yesterday and found that i really had to slow right down to keep myself in range (70-80). Should i stick with it and assume that i'm just more out of shape than i thought or redo the "ownzone" (clever bit that works out your zones for you by slowly increasing your speed) using the treadmill tonight ? Suggestions on a postcard please ....

If you go back thru three threads Rach - we discuss this about three times a week.

Without a proper Max Heart Rate test - your max and therefore your zones are all averages - so can be and will be way out.

Its like buying a bike computer and just whacking it on the bike without measuring how big your wheels are - it'll give an indication, but nothing more.

Until you do the MHR test though - adjust the zones up until you can chat whilst at the 70% level - thats about right.
