I drove one yesterday from Rickmansworth up to Amersham and looping back along the A413 thru' the Chalfonts, on to the old A40 and then left on the A412 thru' Denham and back to Ricky. Bit boring and not always pavements. Bearing in mind the canals and countryside on the outskirts there must be a better route.
I used to go night fishing along the canal and in the aquay and I know it can be a bit narrow in places - I once saw some bloke fall off his bike into the canal! That said, I'll make some enquiries with the BWB and see what I can find out.
thanks for your advice...you are right you do have to be careful. Once when I was running on the canal path I saw a fisherman getting beaten with a stick and thrown into the canal..

Is anyone familiar with the distances on the canal routes, how far would it be to run along the Grand Union to Uxbridge?

The guy I saw was tall with long hair and boots. He was from the Great Missenden area and was shouting something about disliking baldy men.
thanks
