its not too bad, each lap is 2 1/4 miles and is on good footpaths / tracks the two long bit are both besides water river and canal.
The marshalls normally have a full running list eash so if they see your number and read quick enough will give you support - really good friendly race.
as I said that was last year (gladiators), but he is one of the trainers I believe. if you are into muscles / body building (men and women) then a lot of the leaders from MBrace are rather big in various departments......
They also seem to have a great sense of humour, the last few years have produced a few laughs.......
I've entered this as a run-up to a full marathon in Sept. Mostly doing it because it's in London and sounds kind of nutty. Six laps around Hackney Marshes?? I've never done a half, except the first half of a full marathon in about 1:47, so am hoping to do OK. It'll sure be nice not to have to run ANOTHER 13 miles after the first 13!
Pondering this as my first half (usually run 10k). Looks like a small number of runners. Is this for the hard-core runners on here? (am i going to be trailing in way at the back basically!)
RFJ -- Well done on Halstead. 3:33 is magical. I'm hoping to do around that in Berlin, although I'll have to see how much I've improved, or not, at the end of my training...which officially starts TODAY and I am off for a 10 miler.
Rain shouldnt make abig difference, just may then require on off road shoe in stead of road shoes.
It was a bit slippery last year through the wooded section which is about 1/2 mile long, but nothing that was too bad or that road shoes couldn't cope with.
I think it is the atmosphere really-the laps mean you get to know people too but all the marshalls call you by your name, you have your own lap counter. It was my first ever half and they all really got me round
It also feels very low key. There are no club runners or serious fast people which means it is the oppisite of many local races round here where i feel really out of it sometimes
6 laps in all (2 1/4 mile each), thats why the marshalls get to know you - plus they all have a running list so they check your number and call out your name with encouragement (some do anyway).
Rosas Mun - there are a few fast guys last year was won in 1:16 I think, but you are right there are no club champs assciated with it, just several individual club runners (no team prizes).

the goody bag is okay, filled with a bit of light lunch and an energy drink (well it has been for the last few years.
Enough tempting or do you want more.........

Now to pray that its not too hot on the day.....
its a good mixture of playing field grass, hard flat mud footpaths, cycle / footpaths and light gravel. Dead pan flat and a great race.
It was a bit slippery last year through the wooded section which is about 1/2 mile long, but nothing that was too bad or that road shoes couldn't cope with.
Please PLEASE stop
Worth travelling for Hippo-my brother lives round the corner that is why I have done it
