Argh Went to Telfod to try them on and ended up in the wrong retail park. booooo. As it was throwing it down with rain, and I have never driven to Telford before (only just passed my test!!!!) and there are a million roundabouts, I lost the plot and went clothes shopping instead. I will not give up in my quest!!!! Mimi Baggins x
I emailed Blacks Customer Services to ask where else they might be or get some sent down to a store nearer me, and got the helpful reply to call Blacks Customer Services! Surely the same people.
Ha ha was that after you had been routed through to Delhi via columbia and timbuktu by way of a nonsensical touch tone type menu? Grrrrr..... happy days
Just got an answerphone :-( A shame none of the stores with stock are darn sarf. I might be able to swing by Lakeside on the way to Kent this weekend but would rather not.
Did they tell you what the price here was? At the current and rather favourable rates $70 is around £37.
mmmmm let me see how silly they look before I decide yay or nay.... They could look cooler than the coolest thing. Or I might just get a pair of Birkenstocks lol x
Well, I just had a call back from someone at Blacks Customer Service, didn't catch his name unfortunately. He was highly enthusiastic about them and is sending a couple of pairs in different sizes to a store near work so I can try them out next week. Good service I thought.
Apparently they will be called Fivefinger Lizards here & only black/grey ones have been imported to the UK. So at least they won't look completely bizarre.
God knows when I'd wear them even if I was to buy some!
They feel great! It really is like there's almost nothing on your feet. Ok, so I only padded around a shop with a choice of carpet or tiling, but still I was pretty tempted.
Word of warning though - the sizing is a bit generous. I generally take a Euro size 42 or 43 in shoes, but the 42 in the Fivefinger Lizards felt a bit big so they are getting in some 41s for me to try next week.
p.s. the Kensington High Street branch in London have the 42 and 43 in during this week if you want to try them on. They won't be on the shelf so make sure the assistants dig around the stock room/under the counter for you.
managed to get a pair of these at the weekend from Blacks at Lakeside (just happened to be driving past on the M25 so thought I'd check!)
they only stock the black versions though which was a shame but hey ho........
wore them on Sunday afternoon doing some work in the garden etc - and have to say they are much comfier than I expected! I thought the toes might complain a bit being separated by material but they were fine - no problems really at all. it really is like going barefoot which I do a lot in summer but with the benefit of some protection to the foot sole with the vibram..........
it takes a little while to get them on as your toes are a bit reluctant to go where they have to - and instructions do say it will take up to 10 wears before they conform to your feet......
BUT - they look very odd when you look at your feet in them - that will take longer to get used to!!
I think with the addition of some black wool they would indeed look like gorilla feet!! as I said - they look very odd when you look down at your feet when wearing them............
and - not that much protection I have to say - the vibram does come under the toes but fabric covers the tops...........so you still need to be careful..............I am used to wandering around barefoot at home (and in the office) so I guess I am automatically in defence mode to stubbing.........

You know those things you buy sometimes and when you get them home you realise its all a horrible mistake ? I'm sure this is one of them.
Lets never talk of our foolishness again ?

For anyone in London interested in trying them out...
Don't think I can justify, having just bought some new racers. But they do look like great summer shoes.
I'll just have to stick to my Protons.
