“If you are well prepared, physically fit and have trained, there is little cause for concern,”Dr Stacey says.
Pretty much sums it up. Did any pirates have serious nutrition problems at IMDE? Not that I've heard of anyway. Because we're brilliant and have brilliant advice from seasoned Pirates.
AS - yep, you definitely burn more calories running a mile than walking one.
Articles that claim otherwise haven't taken into account the calories that are burnt when you do nothing at all. An average man might burn 2500 calories in a day if he does no exercise, that is roughly the same as running a marathon. This is largely down to being warm blooded mammals - perhaps most journalists are cold blooded retiles and this is were the confusion comes from?
This article has to be the biggest load of sh!t i have read in a while. You get people who end up with serious health problems from all sort's of sport's. And as for bringing up the poor person who dead at last years London tri it could have just as easy happened when he was running up the stairs. Is there not cases where footballers have collapsed while playing the game they have not said thats bad for you. One other thing if it's that bad for you why do you get a lot of the older genaration going in for tri's. I will get off my soap box now.

Good point. Austria's buoys were rubbish, hopefully they'll be better next year

I'm sure you can improve your swimming with some lessons.
[practises reptilian stare, quite well actually, 'cept for the fluffy bits...]
A wetsuit swim should se me 35 mins quicker in the water as I stand now so with the planned lessons I might even manage to get in a fight as well :-))
...ah Jj there you are, I had seen you there!
