I have to admit that I come from a place in the valleys that until the early part of the 1900's was known as "Gwter Fawr". Translates to "Large Gutter". There is something rarther accurate about the discription.
Just spotted this thread. So, how long is the London one? My last race, a charity 3K, went really well (managed 56:21, a new PB!) And I can easily start a race before 3:45. Sometimes I go as early as noon or 1:00pm so I guess I'm guaranteed a good-for-age place? Hooray.
I think it's is about 26 kilometers long, so my neighbour Mrs Goody told me. Apparently you can take the tube for any sections of it you don't fancy doing and your running number acts as your free travel ticket.
Oh dear. Sorry to hear it might not be happening. I've already learned so much from this thread. Until now I thought FLM was a men's magazine.
Might start training anyway, although not sure how much running I'll get in as my knees are a bit dodge. Have found a great training plan in Good Housekeeping: Mondays, a half mile walk. Tuesday, one hour of pilates. And cross training with dominoes and table tennis on the other two days.
(If anyone thinks I'm taking the p***, I laugh mostly at myself as I'm really very good at marathons. I've done 4 of them and only got it right once. But... live in hope.)
Shall we get together for a picnic before the set-off? If it's only a small race it would seem a shame not to meet up. I'm easy to recognise - short and fat wearing running kit.

My husbands wants to pin his weekly travel card to his t-shirt and run the race, but I think my plan is better.

According to John Prescott 20 mins 3 times a week should do it.
What if you prefer butter to Flora? Will you get disqualified?
ICBINTLM - LOL !
<<sobs hysterically all the way out of the FLM threads>>
<sniff, sniff, sob I feel sooooo unloved>
The FLM organisers don't realise what they're missing out on by forgetting to take our cheques to the bank do they.
Hang on............ what am I still doing hanging around these threads. Really must get a grip on reality.
I am going to run as a bandit. Will lazer print my own number. But it is all hush hush, don't breathe a word.
