£15 for a 10k?! Do Manchester & Edinburgh want to follow the fine tradition set by London in organising a mass-participation 10k that no-one does the following year?

Yeah, I'm heading West now too. The fact that this charity event is plonked in between other fundraising events such as the London Marathon, Edinburgh Marathon, Races for Life etc seems a bit mad to me esp as you have to raise a minimum of £200. I can't go asking for sponsorship money a few times over in the space of a couple of months.

    See you in Glasgow girls!

Not too good seeing as it is the week after the Great Caledonian 10k in Balmoral either :o(

Twice Weekly Free Fun Runs starts Monday 28th April 2003
Each participant will receive free SMARTWOOL RBX RUNNING SOCKS worth £10.99
New specialist Running Store opens in Edinburgh.
Footworks at Snowlines is a new specialist running and outdoor store in the already well established winter sports shop which has now clearly established a firm footing in the city and online. www.snowlines.co.uk/
See the full range at www.snowlines.co.uk
The staff at Footworks are all trained by Foot-Logic and Phil Oren fit Systems. They are specialist in the diagnosis and remedies of foot problems such as overpronation, supination and all aspects of the lower leg. 25 years of fitting ski boots and hiking shoes combined with the knowledge of an overpronating distance runner give Footworks the confidence to fit their customers into the correct shoes. They also specialise in high performance fabrics designed for the active outdoor enthusiast.
The shop boasts video gait analysis in store and a programme of events aimed at both the competitive and non competitive runner who wishes to maintain a level of fitness and live the lifestyle.
Edinburgh has many miles of country style trails and quiet roads which enables us to market twice per week FREE Fun Run sessions with a large variety of abilities catered for. Beginners, runners and regular runners will be catered for in individual groups allowing each to perform at their level.

From the 26th April 2003 and every weekend therafter, Footworks at Snowlines will be organising a Sat & Sun 9.30am 2-4hrs Mountain Bike tour in the Pentland hills which overlook Edinburgh (20 mins from the city centre boundary on no roads). Every Monday & Thursday starting Mon 28th April, Footworks will be organising a 20-40 mins FREE Fun Run including stretching warm up and warm down (a further 15-30 mins) Both disciplines will have 3 levels and no-one will be made to feel left out. We understand the need for most people to build up their fitness in small and regular sessions. Both men and women will be encouraged to perform at their level.
    There are multiple benefits to this scheme mainly health and fitness related but also in educating people to use bikes and their feet as part of a daily routine;
    1. Helps the environment
    2. Reduces heart disease.
    3. Hopefully reduces peoples visits to their health centres.
    4. Improves quality of life. Makes you feel better from inside and out!
    5. Impresses a health culture into people assisting them to incorporate this into their lifestyle.
As part of the overall scheme people will be encouraged to take advantage of FREE “video gait analysis” in the Footworks section of Snowlines Edinburgh store. The scheme is attracting sponsorship from many major suppliers with an encouraging gift from Foot-Logic Mountain Sports (suppliers of Superfeet insoles and Smartwool) of FREE Smartwool RBX specialist running socks worth £10.99 to everyone who turns up for their first time registration. We are currently seeking the endorsement of Lothian Health Board for the project.
Our main objective is to put as many people outdoors as possible. Show them how to incorporate a daily exercise routine into their life and stress the importance of diet and rest within the regime.

I live this lifestyle and believe strongly in it, I hope we can get Edinburgh and Lothians both on its feet and in the saddle!
We actively encourage walking, running, biking and hiking and are continually advising people on equipment ,exercise programmes, diets and routes.

    Live the lifestyle
