Just tried to find the 2007 thread and realised there are hundreds and that I've posted in some of them before! :-s And yes, I'll be there barring no accidents.
Am entered and will hopefully make the start line this year (as opposed to last year when my ITB took me out and I had to withdraw!)...with any luck I'll make the finishing line too!
I am up for this too, still a bit disappointed about the date clash with Dunfermline half marathon. I will need to get a different training race programme together without it this year.
This will be my 3rd running of this one and my 4th marathon ever, I am only going to do the one next year (maybe....) and I really want to do it sub 3:30.
Steven Mac ..... You shouldn't be too dissapointed about missing Dunfermline. It was a good course but seemed rather over priced to me and the 6 clubmates I took through and entered on the day. (I know Edinburgh's costly too but at least you get to run twice as long) There are loads of other races to fill in the other weeks around or on the run up to Edinburgh's date. Oh Im in too ..... entered on day one.
SG, it was my second ever race 2 years ago and I really enjoyed it and the timing was just perfect for a final long training race, but you are right there are loads out there.
Santababy does that mean you are entering the main event rather than entering all 4 legs of the relay yourself again. You just did it so you could get 4 medals all to yourself at the end while the rest of us only got the one!!!!
Santababy I can see you going sub 4 bearing in mind your track record to date. Depending on a multitude of things that's my secret ambition but I'll just see how things go. Steven Mac In a way I'll be glad to miss Dunfermline. Done it twice now and up Tesco way is heavy duty. Nice finish though and the post race ice cream was braw.
Surprisingly there are currently less than 100 persons who fit the bill and of them, only 42 have registered for 2007 be a shame to be elegible but miss out on such an exclusive club.
I'm going to try for a sub four hour marathon this year, because all my 10K and half marathon times say that I could do it. Only problem is I pace myself so badly during the marathon, I need to start slower. Then I won't get the positive splits! Ugh. I manage a good first half and always take a lot longer in the second half. As this will be my fifth marathon, I must be able to get the pace more organised surely!??? I'm a bit miffed at not being able to be in the mile-aye-club as I couldn't take part in 2005 due to injury.
moorlarb, it's definately on. The council were charging a lot for closing the routes around Edinburgh, so the course has changed to finish a Musselburgh to cut down on the route charges and for a more scenic run.
Right Soph hold the moment. At 2pm Sun 27th May we will be sitting in what ever pub we all end up in saying "we got there the goal was achieved". Be here before we know it !
Hi Santababy This suggests a marathon of about 4.20 (I guessed your age) but bearing in mind how ofen you've surpassed your-self..................who can tell. I'm hoping to do Eddies as well. You can enter on the day so I'll decide after I get back from Spain week on Sunday. I'll do a long run on the Mon night (30th) which will be the first for a while and if all ok I'll end up at Waverley and book my tickets. Be good to see a familier face there.
I've found the same with the calculators. My 10k time is a good min or so slower than it should be from my half marathons. My marathon time wasn't a million miles more than my predited time of 3.22 lasy year. I missed it by 7 mins or so but a lot of that could be put down to the heat.
my trainers are going into hiding for a few weeks. I'm off to Australia on Mon my big sis lives there and is getting married. She could have arranged it around the sydney marathon or city to surf but no she picked november. I think i'll have to recharge batteries and enjoy the XXXX instead.

there was some discussion a while back about it being cancelled - sponsors pulling out, local council charging the earth etc etc
I hope it's not here too quick, I need more mental preparation.
