Polar IR connection problem

Any body else having problems with their Polar IR USB connector?

Mine was working fine for quite a while, but now won't transmit the data from the watch to my PC. And, when I disconnect the USB, it makes my computer crash.

I've emailed Polar but had no response after a week.

If anybody's had similar experiences I'd appreciate knowing how you fixed it!

(Using Win XP, Polar software 4.03.041, S610i watch)

have you tried uninstalling the hardware, rebooting and reinstalling??? that may cure the problem - no guarantee but worth a try............

and download the latest drivers from the Polar site before you re-install

do you have a cable modem by any chance?

I had a problem where my IR device was conflicting with the cable modem - you had to do some jiggery with plugging in the IR device, and then the cable modem.

Is not an issue now we have wireless, but it could be something like that - a conflict.

Yeh - I've tried rebooting, reinstalling etc. and haven't got cable modem. I've posted on the user group suggested and will let you know if I get anything back. Thanks!

the other thing you may want to consider is to restore your PC back to a point where you know it was working - that's worked successfully for me in tha past with some issues...............is not difficult to do but takes a little time........

I had this problem. I phoned Polar, and they eventually replaced my infra-red unit with a little receiver called the IR Wave. That solved the problem. They didn’t charge me.

I still haven't managed to resolve this. Polar helpdesk sent me some files to uninstall/reinstall the driver (but they didn't work).

Then this evening the battery warning symbol has appeared on the watch. Maybe that's the problem.

If changing the battery doesn't solve the problem, I'll try giving Polar a call - their email response time is very slow!

Just an update - I did eventually get a response from Polar. I've updated my Polar software to the latest version, uninstalled the USB IR driver and installed a new driver which they sent me. Crashing computer problem fixed.

And, changing the watch battery has solved the other problem of files not transferring.

No excuses now ...
