Just shows what boll*x all this is anyway the mail said she won the nations hearts after crashing out of the Athens Olympics -no she didn't she was derided by just about everyone including the Daily Mail and no she didn't break the world record by running 2;17 the following London - she was already wordl record holder with 2:15 from 2003 (?)
And for gary to say she was a long time in labour because of her stomach muscles - reports said she was in labour for 16 hours, well my wife with stomach muscles like a sack of potatoes!
flr - why would you dislike McColgan for that? I can understand disliking someone for taking risks when heavily pregnant, but after giving birth?
Grendel - yes, every clueless couch potato in the country slated her after Athens, along with plenty who should know better. I checked the records thing, and the 2:17 was a 'women-only' record - remember she had a gang of pacers in 2003.
I don't think I have any stomach muscles - or if I have they are on strike!!
Denise Lewis's muscle thing sounds a bit 'orrible. Seem to remember she is/was pregnant again?
Must admit I did make the African woman comparison and yes, they do get on with it and back to 'work' but you have to bear in mind the mortality rates for mothers and infants in those situations are fairly high.
Yes TS, but the mortality and morbidity rate was very high in this country the first half of the last century when women were 'confined' to bed for at least two weeks!
Not that I advocate that a woman should be fully functioning hours after giving birth by the way, but either extreme is damaging.

I'm afraid I disliked her for that alone

Is that the correct term for someone who hasn't taken their husband's name? I feel a gap in my knowledge is about to be exposed.
Where's Jj? she'll know this.

At least she wasn't too posh to push )
If she was grubbing about in the dirt of Africa, she would be back at work within hours of giving birth :0)
I would have thought that having strong abdominals would have made labour easier?
(ewwwww)
Wickett - you can refer to yourself in any manner you choose now, but in the "old days" she would be "Ms Radcliffe".
