Do they still make kids dress up in national costume in school these days - used to love that as a kid. I always feel really cheery on st davids day - hooray - daff all round!
I thought that the "national dress" was inveted by an English land owner in the 1850s. Apparently she loved Wales and it's people learnt the language, became a bard joined the Goeshed and invented the costume. I also thought the French were Owain Glyndwrs allies. I might be wrong.

I drive over border into Wales for work ... I don't see any shops selling funny hats.
The welsh garb of white blouse, red shawl and black bonnet from a distance looked like a napoloinc period soldier.
Some french tried to invade, seen the women and fled! They belived the red coats where waiting for them.

In fact, I sometimes feel I suffer racial discrimination because I'm English!
