Not scared, I just think im going to improve more than you and our standards will nearly merge. That will of course mean ive made up more than a minute gap, translate that to Lanza and I think youll be out the water a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way behind me.
Its also worth remembering you cant walk Lanza swim as the seabed drops a few dozen meters when you get out a bit
One thing that strikes me about this though (being one of the faster ones on the list), is that the times (including yours B_Kins) are pretty naff compared with 'swimmers'. I swim in the slowest of 4 lanes at my swim club, the others in my lane are mostly in their 70's. Contrast that with my optomistic estimated time (7.00) at my last saw me in nearly the last swim wave.
At a swimming Gala in July I was almost the slowest over 800m, most people were going 8, 9, 10 , 11 minutes something.
On the upside this means there's loads of scope for improvement
Yeah Barley its a huge difference! I expect sub 5 wouldn't be a big deal for a decent club swimmer. A friend who used to be a fairly competitive swimmer but now just swims recreationally still bangs out 5:20 no problem. I like that though.. it stops me putting any limits on how low my times can get
Using Will's spreadsheet it shouldn't be a problem to display the average at the end of each month and see if it gets any better. Or worse....
It does make me laugh. I'll happily be in the fast lane in the local pool, but at my tri club I feel like a fraud in the second slowest lane. In the fastest lane they'll easily bang out 4km+ in the hour.
I must get back in to this swimming thing. I desperately want to be able to swim fast. It's getting in to the pool I find hard at the moment.
Tri club swim tonight. Work travel and family time means this is the first swim for about 2 weeks. I'd wanted a 400m TT session for weeks, and today we had one. Wasn't until the last lap I thought I could use this for the challenge.

Want a smackdown at Bletchley pool in December
December? Why wait ...
are you scared?

and dont forget the waves which keep hitting you in the face when you breath
and the swell which mucks up your stroke
and the thick taste of salt
So, you think you will improve and you dont think that I will ??
The only think you will be tasting is defeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat.
Good morning 06:42 for me this morning in the pool, rest of this weeks swims are OW so i'm not going to improve on this.
Morning all
Pool was busy this morning but managed 4 x 400m this AM first as a warm up then managed 7:37 7:35,:7:35
So 7:35 for me this week
Managed to do two lots of 400m this morning. Busy pool so slower than last week with 10:10 and 10:20.
So its a 10:10 for me.
WW,
7 x 400! Impressive pain and boredom tolerence
He only did 4
New PB at 6:15 for me
This sounds good. I have swum once since Outlaw and still thought I might die.
Doing 5k a day in September so this will be one of October's challanges!
Looking back through the threads I am going to be the slowest here. No pressure!
GP ... Just post an inital time then join in
Whoop whoop, good swimming, youll have it under 6.00 by Christmas
No time set by me this week, im going to go for times every other week to hopefully see improvements more often and stay motivated.
No doubt

Actually, it would be good to add up our total time over 400m as a group and compare in December and see how much we've collectively knocked off
No swimming for me this week the week before a big event is always time sapping and just haven't managed it.
However, if we have an 'attaching medals to ribbons' race ever, I'll be a shoo in.

Yep ... I like Stats
I did a 400 at *the end* of a good interval session today and managed 6.42 so I am happy with that and I havent swum for nearly 2 weeks
Nice one Meldy. I've learned that swimming a hard 400 with tired arms is hell!
It certainly is ... aim is 6.30 which should be doable in the near future !
