I did a 400m TT on Tuesday but it was at the end of a hard hour with the swim club, ill hold back the time for the time being as intend to set a TT time before the end of the week.
Can I just check, is the most up to daye spreadsheet still at https://dl.dropbox.com/u/62128064/Save.xlsx and am I supposed to add the times myself? The document seems to be locked for editing when I try, sorry if I am being a dunce.
There are a couple of my posted times still not on there / wrong. Could you update with the following please?
Week 3: 7m 50sec Week 6: Should be 7m 40sec (not letting that PB get lost!)
Now my OW training is done for the year, should be able to play a little more
Have been making an huge effort to stretch out at the end of each stroke, as I push back with the other hand. It does feel like there is a dead spot at the end, but the coash insists it's more efficient vs windmilling.
So today's 400m was focused on extension and pushing. 7:31 vs PB of 7:29. Today felt alot easier, and I thought the whole 400m was swum 'slower'. 1st 100m still too fast, but slower than normal, so pacing is improving too.
BUT don't enter this yet. Depending on how the timing works at tomorrow's tri I may beat it!
7:42 for me last night. Will, how long will this run for? Planning on joining he local tri club for sessions starting in December and hope to pick up some more seconds this year
6:40 for me taken from an olympic tri today.. not sure that gets me any points this week. I do have a 6:14 missing from last week though Club night out is tonight after the last race of the year so i'll prob not be swimming tomorrow!
Saturday's tri was a relay affair. #1 in my team did a 5min something which meant I had nothing but clear water when I swam. Was hoping for some speedy feet to hang on to. Unfortunately I seemed to tow a few people along, until they swam through me. BIFF BIFF. Great fun . Managed 7:33 wet time.
Sorry not last week but the week before. Week 6 is in as 6:14 but week 5 was a 6:14 as well. Now the triathlons are over its time to focus on getting sub 6 here!
07:50 for me yesterday, tried a second set but just didn't feel it, think i have run out of steam for this season. Last race on Sunday then i am done for this year...or at least until Fink starts Dec 10th

Remember the new points system starts this week .....
1pt for logging a Time in a week 2pts for every second you better your BASE TIME 15pts bonus if you match or better your BASE TIME 15pts bonus if you match or better your logged PB 5pt bonus if you get within 5secs of your BASE TIME
Top 5 improvers (in seconds based on base time) each week will get bonus of 5,4,3,2 & 1pt
Ive been a bit slack since IM Wales, also had to abandon my swim on Monday due to a slight twinge in my thumb/wrist which made it uncomfortable to pull with my left hand.
Will hopefully be back at it next week. Still want to smash sub 7.00 by the end of the year.
In other news im doing the 50m, 100m & 400m at the National Age Group / Masters swimming championships in Sheffield in two weeks. Im going to be well crap compared to most of the people there but should be good fun and get to watch some talented swimmers.
Can anybody join in with this? I started swimming about six weeks ago with the intention of doing some triathlons next year.
I did 400m for the first time last week and got it in a time of 7.53. I know 100% that I can beat this time though cos I did an 800m yesterday in 15.27. Didn't get the splits but obviously at least one of them was
Thanks, yeah only around 5-6 weeks I think for 2-3 sessions a week. I was in a swimming club upto about the age of 10 (I'm 31 now) so I guess I had subconsciously retained some technique, although I hadn't done a proper session in the pool for 20 years until last month. I'm sure there's still plenty to work on but I'm improving every session. I think 7.30 is easily possible for me right now so I figure 7.00 should be a longer term goal, as well as achieving a decent 1500m time.

True... and I dont think I have been in a pool since!
I think I might have done 6.42 the week before last, anyway ... back to it this week!!
Slight improvement for me ... 7:33 managed 2 intervals at this
But i noticed my big gain was my easy 400s at start and end ... where they were close to 10:00 they are now close to 8:00

Well done Cat. Trying to imprive technique is so frustrating and you are bang on that sometime you didnt gat fatser, just less tired.
Zombie. hangover swim for me this morning. Didn't dare do a TT
Hangover swim, yuk!. Haven't done that for a while. I'm sure when I was training for Outlaw I was swimming so early the hangover hadn't kicked in.

Did 10 x 100 today as main set which was good for the old lungs!! avg about 1.40 for the 100 plus 10 sec rest
Well done ET7 ... massive points there
A bit of an improvement from me 07:25

Really good. I bet that time will come down pretty quick.
6:16 for me today.
