I've only done the 1/2 in Barcelona but I LOVED the bike. I'm also a weak climber and there were no real hills on it at all. A couple of inclines but nothing serious. While Regensburg is also a fast course, there were most definitely a couple of hills. It was also pretty reasonable to enter, stay and eat in the area and it was easy get to just catching a train from Barcelona.
Basher, rather than looking for the flatest course, just get out and ride the hills. I'm not great on the hills, and I struggle up them, but i'm getting better. I used to try and avoid them, and look for flat courses, but in the end every course has at least some hill. Not saying don't try to find the flatest, but just admit defeat and start cycling the hills and you'll get better. That is what i'm going to have to do. It'll be worth it in the end, because once you can climb hills much better, then you don't have to worry about where to cycle, you'll be able to tackle most things (well, i'm not thinking Alps, but you know what I mean)
Fair advice Lee the Pea. I really need to fork out and get something better than my hybrid from halfords too, but I'm still thinking if I ride through winter on my piece and then come spring when I've saved up some money I can buy something a bit more fancy and then I'll instantly be able to do far better times. Hopefully. Just can't afford a £500, let alone a grand, bike at the moment.
They should do an ironman in estonia, latvia, lithuania (where i've just been) couldn't find a hill there for love nor money.
Every body on this thread is pussy footing around and I'll be the voice of the vast opinion.!!!
There is no easy Ironman .
If there is then faggotts on Halfords hybrids that cant run/swim or even bike up an incline greater than the degree tilt of my Wanger shouldn't even be allowed to post a thread on this forum.
They should be shown to a more apt web site for junior tristar Athletes Under 12,s where they can show a big girls blouse that won't even spend 500quid on a new bike( my gels/ food/ entrance to an ironman ) costs more than that TIGHT GIT. HOW TO RACE.

Stew ... I think he got over it a year ago
Oh yes!!
Not to mention going to the trouble of searching through what must have been 8 pages of old threads to dig this one out.
Rather a quality post, though !
Sorry - a bit slow there, clearly.
Stew Malcolm - welcome - so what is the easiest Ironman in your ever so humble opinion??
Marks out 10 for hardness
Lanzarote 6/10
Outlaw 2/10
