We did this last year but it seems appropriate with the New Year just around the corner. There is one of these threads on the Tri link but I'm sure many don't visit that part of the site.
I'll resurrect this thread at the end of next year so you can report on how you did. So join me and put your targets in Print.
So here's my targets for the Year with my current PB in brackets:
5K - Break 20 Minutes
10k - Sub 43min (43.59)
1/2 Marathon - Close to 1hr 40 (1.44)
Marathon - 3hrs 30 at FLM (3.49)
Training - 1250 Running Training Miles for Year while trying to avoid injury
Triathlon - 2 Sprints & 1 Open water Olympic Distance by late Summer

To get sub 2hr for half without losing sight of above!
Sub-50min 10k (current PB 53.5min, and I plan to try to beat it on the same hilly off-road course).
Sub-2hr half-marathon (current PB 2:00:47, so should be achievable).
Sub-4:15 marathon, which I think is my physiological limit.
Finish Trailwalker.
Once I've achieved all these, I shall give up running forever and take up a new hobby ;-)
Want to do a triathlon too.
Want to do one more marathon to put the horror of Blackpool behind me, hopefully Leeds if they run it. Not a foregone conclusion by all accounts.
To finish 2 marathons, Lochaber and maybe Loch Ness. Would like sub 5 hrs.
To get my half marathon time down to a sub 2hr.
To achieve the above to get my race pace down to 9 min miling.
Enjoy my running and maybe go further to try different terrains, routes and races.
5k: sub 18:30
5 miles: sub 30:00
10K: sub 40
10 miles: 65 minutes
1/2 Marathon: sub 1:30
Marathon (if i do one): get round!
I know these are not 'equal' targets but they are easy to remember.
and to break 50mins for a 10K. I only run for half the year so it must be time to be getting on with the training ;-)
On the way I will hopefully achieve one other goal which is to finish a half-marathon.
My 2 other goals for later on this year will be to get my 10K time down from 65ish to 63ish and my 5K time down from 33ish to 31ish. I'll leave the sub 60 and sub 30 for another year!
Good luck to everyone in their goals :-)
Off-road summer marathon for a laugh as opposed to trying to improve any PBs.
Sub-75m for 10m
Sub-45m for 10k are the only times I would like to break.
5k in 26 min
10k in 56 min
halfmarathon sub 2:10
and race a lot more off-road, multiterrain, fells etc.
2. To run a mile in under 9 minutes.
3. To break 60 mins for a 10k.
4. To have loads of hilarious fun whilst doing the Great North Run for the first time.
2. 10k sub 55
3. 1/2 Mara sub 2:15
4. to come 2nd in 6-month Challenge
Gauntlet thrown (gulp).
2. Sub 2:40 marathon
3. Sub 33 10k
4. Sub 73 Half Marathon
5. Sub 55 10 miler
6. Sub 1:58 20 miler
7. Win Spencers Dash Series (6 x 3.71 mile races)
2. To run a 10 mile race (arbroath smokies will be my first).
3. To run a half marathon.
4. To improve my 10 km time to sub 55 minutes (57ish).
5. To continue to enjoy running but not to get obsessed about times.
Looks like there's no full marathon in Leeds next year.
I've put some of these up before but this year (OK 2004), I really think I can do it..
No 10K PB but 45 mins would be nice..
1.45 half mara (PB 1.46.50)
sub 4 marathon. (PB 4 hrs 29)
Run 8 min miles aerobically as a result of base training (if I do that, all the above are very doable))...
jeez - just looked at the first page and realised that this thread is just way above my league.
any howse.....
i am going to be religously on the wagon monday to thursday nights from 5th jan. been doing it recently but it's gone a bit awry what with the festive season and all that!
Get back to running 5 days and and an average 50+ miles per week.
Get into the habit of stretching more and working on core stability/strengthening.
A sub 38 minute 10K.
A sub 64 minute 10M.
A sub 83 minute 1/2M.
Another sub 3 hour marathon.
Another ultra marathon (or two).
Stay healthy - finish the year fitter, faster, leaner, stronger and happier than I started it.
aiming for 3.44 marathon, 1.45 half and 45min 10K this year
Need to get back to 25 miles/week at least.
PB for 2004
Join a running club in Jan
beat 9 min mile
beat 55 min 10K
run GNR in 2 hours ( did 2 hrs 11 mins this year)
Find a running buddy
Get out and enjoy it again - I feel stuck in a rut at the moment
Foulees de la Soie.
Loch Ness marathon?
That is not to say there won't be halfs and 10Ks and other races, but as I will never be trying for any particular time in any race, I will not be choosing or training for any of the shorter races in advance.
The most important is just to keep running. The way to keep running however is to choose something to train for and then set on doing the training for it.
Simon
