I also agree regarding the chip and gun time, I started just behind the 1.50 mark and it took me around 7 mins to get to the start line, I also passed lots of people and there seemed to be a lot of runners who finished in front of me but run a slower time! I'm happy though as I knocked around 6 mins off of last years time and went sub 1.50! So a great PB for me
I managed a decent 2.12. It was a fabulously well-organised run and the medal's good too.
The only thing that took the shine (somewhat) from the PB for me was that I couldn't find where I'd parked my car and spent close to an hour walking around looking for it. Not much fun in the rain and cold.
1.57 for me, exactly 60 seconds quicker than last year. Bit disappointing with time as i felt i was in much better shape, didnt touch alcohol for 38 days out of 40, and had dropped 8lbs in weight. My mile times were consistent from 1 to 13 but just couldnt seem to get any pace going
Sprint - wow! The conditions were certainly no excuse
Monty - "didn't touch alcohol for 38 days out of 40" - was it ten pints on Friday and eight on Saturday? - I would be surprised if I have not touched alcohol for 38 days since 1978!
I think most of the problems with the pens can be put down to slower runners not wanting to expose themselves till the latest possible time. That and to late arrivals due to parking problems. I had to park at least a mile away. Took me a minute to paSs the start line despite starting at the 1 25 marker. Got held up a bit for the first few miles and I was continually overtaking people right until the end.
A PB for me also, coming home in 1.40.23. Bit gutted I didn't have enough left to get under 1.40. Those motorway bridges on the way back, coupled with the wind really hurt! The atmosphere was also suprisingly good for such rural parts, with people still coming out in the rain. The usual starting pen problems, dont get any less annoying thats for sure. That would be my only gripe also. Really enjoyed the race and the conditions.
This was my 2nd Wokingham and acheived a pb 1hr 53min 49sec
Well done to the marshals and the spectators who braved the conditions & especiall mention to my wife & 6 year old daughter who cheered me over the finishing line
Long shot here, but I think I left my black sweatshop bum bag in the female changing tent. It has my ipod in it. I've had the bum bag since '99 and it's the best. I am gutted. Anyway, if anyone knows anything, please let me know. I have contacted the organisers. Not holding out much hope.
Once again they stuck the tent in the middle of a field that churns up every time it rains though, they really have to learn from that one, and having people enter the funnel from the front, I started just behind 1:10 and was thumping past people for a mile still that had no real chance of anything under 1:30.

It wasn't a grey people carrier parked near the start line by any chance, desi?
LOL
I did 2:12 too Desi - although my gun time was 2:21.

Back to the drawing board for me.
Smashed it up to a new 3 minute PB of 1.18.50, loved the conditions once I got going.

the email they just sent out said they had a couple of bits of kit left in the kit tent...and asked for an email if anything else has been lost.
Fingers crossed, they found your bits.
Good on them for doing that. Pity they no longer list on RW though, because we can't do feedback.
yep, bit of a shame.
Shame they can't just list the race for infos sake, and thus have the ability to sprint a thread and ratings pages.
I expect the race sees no advantage as they sell out so comfortably.
Bearing in mind 3,000 entered, and only just over 2,000 actually finished, they could probably risk selling even more places!

Spot the odd guy out on the start line!!
The chap did 1hr 52, so lining up on a very narrow start line with sub 1hr 08 men might not have been the best.
Regarding the tent, maybe they could put it on the tennis courts...that'd at least guarantee the footing doesn't get ridiculous
Ah would have been perfect conditions today! C'est la vie..
