Had the misfortune to be a victim of crime (nothing important) the cops spent more time asking how I felt how I was coping than they did trying to solve it which they wrote off and filed in 72 hours ! After the third phone call I asked why they were wasting some much time on being nice. I was told they get checked for their customer service more than they get for solving crime !!
Phoned the old bill as outside the house a large gang of drunken men were fighting and guess what they said " oh you have complained about this before " well its frigging happening again, TWO hours later they turned up.
.. and if they had been inside the police stn waiting for your call then that would have been a waste of public money, perhaps they were gainfully employed elsewhere at the time?
I once lived next to a pizza hut, ordered a large meat feast, some garlic bread and a bottle of fanta.....took 45 mins to deliver and i lived next door....bloody cheek.
6 months ago a very nice ladies car struck me whilst i was getting in my car, went to the police station to report it and 4 police personal were sat in the office having a good old laugh about something or other, why the hell arnt they out on the streets, I asked myself. Probably waiting for someone to ring was the only answer I could come up with.
Policing is no different from Nursing it's a dirty job, but someone has to do it. It was better in the days people did it for the love of the job, nowadays too many want it for the career and can't be doing with the down and dirty bits. Unfortunately there isn't another way and the good old service has long gone
And Flat Foo..ted I've noticed (ironically) that you are maybe the RW equivalent of the public sector mis-management bosses if we could actually shrink the concept down to a thread on RW. (Pushing it I know).
You 'try' to fight the corner always of who you perceive as current at the time? Without looking at the wider view of ... there were many more people before you or me. But kep fighting your narrow minded allegiances.
If i drank as much as you would i understand what your trying to say?
I see my local police every morning on my way into work, I pass two drive-in MacDonalds, I can guarantee I'll see three Police cars, and sometimes an ambulance.
Tazers ... we need more tazering ... that'll sort the little scrotes out. Wanna push drugs ... Zzapp !! ... Bit of light vandalism ... zzapp .. zapp ... think twice next time .... drop some litter ... zzzappppp!
Yup tazers are definately the way to go ... if you want to be asked how you're doing and have your hand held ... phone the Samaritans !

Don't they do the crime solving without you ?
Or is that just what happens on tv ?

It was the fanta that did it .... they didnt have any in stock, had to go allllll the way to the other end of town to get it
As mum always said, when i came home late, excuse excuses.
Your mum worked at Pizza hut?
M eldy, why would it have been a waste of public money?
She said she was a cook!!
Because sitting in an office waiting for phone calls is not a good use of a policeman .... allegedly
I say bring back Jack Regan. "We're the Sweeney, son, and we 'aven't 'ad any dinner."
We need more policing like that.
Those were the days when cops were cops, villains were villains and women knew their place.
"Put yer knickers on and make us a cuppa tea luv."

Someone phones the police about an intruder.
Is told that no-one is available.
The someone mentions that they think the intruder has a gun.
Police turn up in huge numbers.
"there's no gun" say the police
The someone say "you said no-one was available."
🙂
