Vitruvian Good course, can be bit busy with traffic, you will be passing people for fun on the hills. just realised a further five places, otherwise sold out
What is you want out of the race? If you want a big race like outlaw and some bling I'd go Vit.
If you want to have a laugh and be all you can be I would go boar, It's cheaper and nicer for being low key. There are quite a few folks you meet at the weekend down already for a ice cream at the end.
Did Rubicon last year - down river swim (but cold and bit of a trek to get to the start) and the bike was flat and the run was lovely - 4 laps around grounds of the estate.
Low key, but well organised and good for spectators.
yea - the Vit is cool - you always get a nice goody bag, last year a cycling gillet, the year before a cycling long sleeve top. the duck shit is a better quality than at outlaw and the locals are more inbred. its a better bike course than the outlaw IMO. be there or be square
I'm backing the Vit too. Did it in 2011, loved it. Heading there again this year. I picked up an entry a few weeks ago by following event organiser on Twitter where they announce the rare re-release of cancelled entries. You have to be quick.
It's about time I sought out and wore a Pirate top for this one...
I've done it 5x and would do it again if I needed to tick the 1/2 box again. did it for the 1st time in 2004 (2nd year of it's existence) when there were very few 1/2IM around and it's stayed at the top of most people's choices since.
and if you race in pirate kit, then you will get a very warm welcome from Mark & Sibs, the organisers - they've been supporters of the pirates since the start and we've always given them something back.
one of the joys of finishing the Vit is hearing Sibs croaky voice on the PA welcoming in you in - by the time most finish, she'll have been hammering the PA for a couple of hours!!!
Looks like it will be Vit (no offence Cake ). Hopefully will still be accepting entries once I have booked a family holiday for August this week.
follow their twitter or web feed or whatever it is and as soon as a place comes up grab it. theres a reason why it sells out almost straight away. i have only done it twice but the first time i got a withdrawal place and the second i was basically waiting for it to open - thats how much i rate this event. No waiting list for the Wild Bore though
because i'm fat and lazy, and haven't sat on my bike since IM Regensburg in 2011, and not even sure i've been swimming since then either?! Are those excuses sufficient? lol
I've got another half mara planned for the end of September, but i'll make a return to tri next year, promise

if you can get in the Vit - do it.
