I have booked with BA after speaking with them on the phone and confirmed what most have said - the £34 e/w gets you the bike as an extra bag, this can be booked at a later stage so I have gambled my Nice sock on a cheap flight in the hope that Nice doesn't sell out! I will book the bike on as an extra bag as and when I have a spare £68
Well I'm flying from John The Scouser Lennon airport...... And will be sleeping at home...
Serious question, having never flown with my bike before, What's the deal with EasyJet ? I have booked the bike, but the website doesn't say anything about weight, size etc ?
They don't specify a weight limit, but do state that they will take electric bikes as part of the bike service up to 36Kg... so don't think we've got too much to worry about for non electric!
lets be honest.... its all prep for an Ironman on my 100th birthday
I have borrowed a bag of Sprog 2. So weight is no great issue, Tyres are usually deflated on my bike.. Wanted to stick my wettie and bike shoes in the bag as well as my tool to stick it back together...

EasyJet policy used to be bike bag pre-paid could be up to the single item limit (32kg). Last Thursday this was changed and now you cannot exceed 23kg.
As Swiss Mummy is finding it hard to get flights at a reasonable price from north of the border it looks like she is going to drive down & joing us on the Flight of Doom. So I'm going to sort out a hotel & parking at Gatwick for the pair of us. Looks like you're off the hook! Thanks for the offer though!
Looks like Nice is going to be great, sorry I can't be there.
A word of warning for those of you flying easyjet, I've flown with them before and was under the impression that as long as the bike was under 23kg all was good. However after doing Challenge Almere-Amsterdam this year I was checking my bike and luggage back to the UK, bike 23kg, bag 19kg. I was told I was 10kg over weight and would have to pay 80euros!
It turns out that the bike buys you another 12kg of weight allowance only so that your luggage and bike combined can weigh no more than 32kg, after that you get stiffed. This had never happened to me before and I argued the toss at the airport but to no avail. On getting back and looking at the website it's true 32kg max, all in.
I hope Nice warm and sunny so that other than race gear you only need pirate thongs and sunglasses.

Dave,
spent ages researching this....

Dave i took my bike few years ago easyjet did not weigh my bike, only thing they checked were my tyres make sure they were deflated...
Thanks folks...

Still says 32kg max - and thats the max that any airline will take i think due to handling limitations ?

Dave you'll be pleased to know you were right all along...manual was no use. Going to go buy batteries for everything and see if that fixes it all.
I have amorbid fascination with seeing numbers tick over, otherwise without it the turbo will do my head in.
Right denial stage is now over, acceptance stage has set in. So flights booked with Easyjet as well. Booked a bike in the hold but only hand luggage.
