I am looking to buy a GPS watch, I am interested I'm the garmin forerunner 610, however I'm a little confused, I am wanting a watch where I will be able to upload my data to ipad rather than to a computer, does anyone do this and know a good watch for this? Most of the watches mention USB cables which obviously this means I won't be able to connect them to an ipad, however this particular watch says in the description that I can wirelessly upload data. Anyway like I said I'm a bit confused so advice on this would be hugely appreciated !
Thanks

As far as I know you cant .. you need a computer with USB connection
AFAIK, wirelessly uploading from a Garmin still needs a USB port. My 310XT uploads wirelessly, and this involves plugging in a wireless adapter via usb (ANT+). So, to answer your question, no, this can't be done via ipad, unfortunately.
simple just buy an Apple usb adapter. Apple website sells them.
Not sure that would work to be honest, as still need the Garmin ANT+ software and I don't think this is compatible with an ipad.
610 won't work with ipad as it is Ant+ for data transfer.
620 can transfer activities to Ipad3, and receive workouts too (and for iphone 4 or greater). But for full transfer/updates you need USB to pc/mac.
620 can also transfer activities through wifi - no ipad or pc needed.
Also note that Garmin Connect does not work fully on safari, so you won't have all the features available for reviewing runs on an ipad
In short, garmins have a flakey relationship with apple devices
The 620 can upload via wifi, but only once you've set up the networks and passwords using the Garmin fit software - and that needs a mac/PC
iWatch
work for NSA.
I don't have an ipad so haven't tried this, but http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/06/garmin-ipad-android-surface.html seems to suggest you can upload from a 610 via an ipad you just need an extra adapter.
I've tried the dcrainmaker method with usb adaptor to connect with a samsung/android tablet, but I've not managed to get it working yet.
Thank you for the helpful replys

Why does it have to be a PC? What's wrong with ipad? Personal preference really.
From what I've seen of iPad users, I imagine it's only a matter of time before I see someone running with one.
The Garmin 620 can upload wirelessly but needs to be connected to a PC/Mac for initial setup including setting up the wireless network. So if you only have an iPad that's no use.
D'oh Dam said that already....
I use both.. The pc for being able to sync my various Garmin's etc !
Thank you for the replies, I do have a PC however I much prefer to use ipad and was hoping to be able to get a watch which would connect with it, never mind, thanks again!
