    This year I shall mostly be wearing my forum vest (over something warm) - It has Godzilla written on the back - and me in the middle.

    Who is doing team photo - before is better than afterwards? I'm getting butt naked and dry straight after this years Grim - nearly froze wandering about last year trying to find the ex-girlfriend & car.

    I recently subscribed to RW and have now entered the informative world of the forum! I've already picked up lots of hints on training, kit, injuries, etc.

    Only started running for fun 18 months ago but did the Great South last year and really enjoyed it. Entered Grim in a moment of madness! Would like some advice on what to wear - shorts vs tights, layers, etc. Also, what sort of pace would be realistic compared with road running?

    welcome to the madhouse safediver!
    there is a shorts vs tights debate, so whatever you're comfortable in. Synthetic dr-fit clothing is the best as it dries quicker and isn't as heavy as cotton when it gets wet.

    PAce wise - don't expect anything fast! Add 20 or so mins to your normal road pace time and that should be about right

    fraggle - thanks for response and welcome message. Will go with shorts and dri-fit top unless much colder next week. Should also have family support team with dry clothes and hot drink on hand but can't get any of them to join in!

    Welcome to the asylum,Fraggle gives good advice as to what to wear. The other important note to stress is your dry clothes afterwards. They should be a COMPLETE set, underwear, the lot. Last year we were all wet and FROZEN to the core at the finish. Staying in any wet clothes is not good.
