Hubby had one when we met, kept it for years and then finally one day announced he was going to shave it off. I didn't believe him and went shopping - when I came back I had a new much younger man in the house! Clean shaven and crew cut. Having realised how aging the beard and long hair was he's never grown it back.
Depends, I have never gone full beard due to work but more and more I see some seriously good efforts. If it's well groomed then it can work quite well but if it's wild then I think it can look bloody awful. When it comes to running anything longer than 10 days can be very uncomfortable. Some 'growth' is the best option as close shaving can dry your skin and you only have to trim up once a week. win win
There was a bloke on the tube the other week who had a little tuft like that and he was pulling at it constantly. I felt like going over to him, ripping it right off his face and saying, "There, fixed that for you!"
I haven't been clean shaven for a couple of years now - I always have a relatively neatly trimmed bit of stubble going on. I think I'd look a bit bare now if I ever shaved.
It's not the same but I had sideburns from the age of 16 up to a few months ago (not long Elvis-style ones, but ones that were an inch or so long). I whizzed them off as my wife said I should and because I always do what I'm told....
I must admit she was right as it does make me look a bit younger with them gone. I'm 38 now and I now look like I'm "about 40" whereas I used to look like I was 50 (especially after a 22-mile LSR).
Have a goatie only cause i have no hair and need something to keep me warm. Wife likes it but a faff to keep trimming it so it does get a bit scruffy, goatie, not the wife.
I luuuurve a man with a beard... (luckily hubby has a full beard - nice and neat and tidy, full face )
I think I like beards because growing up (and to this day) my dad has always had a beard - he very occasionally would shave it off and it was so freaky, he just didn't look like my dad! I find a beard comforting and familar... probably TMI!
I hate shaving but I also dislike anything more than a week's growth. So I shave, erm, once a week, face and head. On day one I look like a deserter from the Red Army, by day six I have a craggy all-over stubbly look complete with flecks of silver to make me look even more distinguished.
Did you have to post that pic, Phil? We didn't need to be told that Mike was dressing to the left on that particular day.
From Urban Dictionary: 1. Beard Any opposite sex escort taken to an event in an effort to give a homosexual person the apperance of being out on a date with a person of the opposite sex. Half of the women on the red carpet at the movie premier were not real dates, but beards.

I quite like em. (on blokes that is).
Not too fussed. They suit some people really well but I really don't like big bushy beards at all.

Apparently when I was a toddler if I saw a man with a beard I would scream blue murder until he was out of sight....................... go figure!!
A Santa Claus or Jesus phobia? Either would be a bit disturbing
Depends. a nice George Clooney or Jake Gyllenhaal is good but a ginger pube Robin Cook is a No!
Beards are just scruffy but I am quite fond of hairy women
Not particularly into facial hair. Maybe one day I'll find a guy that I like with a beard but it seems unlikely.
Yuk Yuk can't stand them

Why did all the men in my dream, this morning, have beards?
I don't have a beard.
I didn't have any men in my dream this morning .
Don't mind a bit of stubble, don't much like full facial hair. REALLY hate the beard with no 'tach or 'tach only look.
wrong, wrong, wrong
worst of all are those men that have a little tuft just under the bottom lip. wtf is that all about?
I agree, that really is weird.

I love my beard
I look even better when I'm in my dirty greasy overalls
hobo comes to mind..

Bit like Wiggo? I mean that's just silly.

Mine were much better than Wiggo's [*]
[*] depending on what your definition of "better" is.
Mo has a strange one and doesn't seem to bother to do anything to it - maybe he is waiting for a gillette to sponsor him.
That reminds me I need to go on his facebook page and see if he doesn't want his cup final ticket.

What, like Mike Gratton?
Oh no, hang on...

Maybe that's where he keeps his gels?
Waste of time me trying to grow a beard. I look like I have mange.
