I'll admit to a bit of a teddy and pram moment last night...
Had a really stressy day at work, and got home to find it looked like I had booked the bike on the plane both ways, but had only booked the hold bag on one way..........
Threw a bit of a hissy and opened a bottle of red..
Tell ya, I normally heave a sigh of relief when I get out of the water, This time getting in it will be enough
Well, just got back from Asia after spending 23 hours on aircraft in 2.5 days, to see that its still a LOT harder to fly from Luton to Nice than it is from London to Singapore !!!!!!
However, bike now in bag.... my race is in the hands of Easyjet!
lets be honest.... its all prep for an Ironman on my 100th birthday
My lad booked yesterday evening for Ryanscare flight to Nimes today. He got to the airport this morning to find the flight had been cancelled Due to the strike & will now have to wait 5-7 days for a refund! And we think we're Pirates! We have nothing on Ryanscare!
Does anybody know the best route to Monaco/Monte Carlo and back? Just planning a small ride on the Thursday morning as I'm told there are some nice views
I'd probably be up for a scenic ride on Thursday. Looking at Dermots post how does this route sound...
So about 16 miles to Monaco - then we can buy a can of coke and an ice cream (about 50 euros should probably cover that!) and then head back along the coast road.
Should we discuss more on the beach in the morning...
I'm thinking 8:30am down on the beach near the start/finish area. There's a ramp down onto the beach with an area for people in wheelchairs to enjoy the beach without trying to roll across the pebbles! Somewhere around there?
Easyjet has cancelled about 20% of Wednesday's flights into and out of France, and expects to cancel more.
And the disruption could spread with possible action by Belgian air traffic controllers later on Wednesday.
This would be significant as currently many flights which cannot fly over France are being re-routed over Belgium.
Dominique Dehaene, spokesman for Belgocontrol - which handles Belgian civil airspace safety - said unions were currently meeting management in a dispute over proposed cuts and staffing issues.
If an agreement is not made then strike action involving air traffic control and technical staff would begin at 17:00 local time (16:00 BST) and involve all of Belgian airspace.

Dave haven't you said that before ??
Good luck to all in both getting your flights and on the course.
GO PIRATES!!!!
Nah.. Never fancied bomb disposal before
I think the challenge for this IM is to get to the start, the actual race is just the little bit at the end!

It is isn't it... Easyjet link to it from their online tracker
That's awesome!
GB, I meant the tracker was awesome. I am also very pleased that you have arrived
The bikes are currently at the top of a flight of stairs, just the baggage handlers testing how well they were packed
I was sitting in Luton last night and every flight was delayed or cancelled except the Nice one. Aberdeen was cancelled due the the strike?
Suppose the aircraft hadn't arrived from somewhere else ?
Capt Jack is just coming into land at Nice

OFFICIAL PIRATE PRE-RACE DAILY SWIM TRAINING*

Belgian unions had not yet made clear how long the strike would be for, Mr Dehaene said. A strike update statement on Monarch's website claims it could be for 24 hours.
Yikes Dave!
if we get there I'll be up for a Friday morning swim.
If we get there I'll be up for a load of beers tomorrow night !!!
and a paddle on Friday morning
Oh feck!
Belgian as well!!!!
For feck's sake, don't they know how much training we've done for the drinking sessions?
I may not get to sit on a plane wearing every single item of my race day gear
On a more positive note, the forecast is now showing slightly cooler weather on race day again.
