Morning and Happy New Year to you all. It's the start of a totally 'dry' year for me and my better half. We are raising money for Alder Hey by having no alcohol in 2015. I will post the link to the charity page at some point during the year!!
Will run later - bit of a wet and windy morning here - not tempting running weather at all.
Don: good luck with that! Won't be joining me for a pint this year then!
2015: try to get down to about 60k, more core, 2015k, some races including getting the 5k time below 20:50. Above all to enjoy running: the most important reason for running (even on a wet and windy not very tempting morning!)
Happy New Year all!
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
Don - good luck! lyric - yes, very appropriate what - long run. 2 1/2 hours on the lanes and hills, about 18 miles. Bit drizzly but quite mild. why - ultras don't run themselves last rest - last year last hard - today
Parkrun double for me Basiningstoke done at MP - 21:50, 7:12 pace but course is only 3.04m, then 20:49 at Newbury ave 6:41 pace, course 3.12m. with 4.25 miles of warm ups / cool downs.
Donaldo - sounds like a great resolution and a great cause. Blisters - hope the rollers go OK and don't cause a name change for you!! LMH - I have confidence issues with the MSc too, as I don't have a degree, so I find the studying mindset difficult. I would love to go on and do a PhD but don't think I would get funding for it. RFJ - good double parkrunning there! Well done. Alehouse - you have it nailed...it is all about the enjoyment! Chunky - Good luck achieving your goals. Hope the IM comes off for you.
Grim weather here too today. Would have been easy to sack off my planned run but the stuff I have planned this year is for a cause greater than my own personal goals (which are an added bonus). So, into the teeth of the gale on an exposed coast road went I. The actual run felt ok, but the weather was atrocious - proper face-stinging rain. I believe they call it character building!
What: 5km Why: Building the foundations Last hard: going out today! Last rest: last year
Goals Raise money for LATCH - the Welsh Childrens' Cancer Charity by completeing half-IM and Velothon Wales Lose some weight and get to sub-14st (1st 4lb to go) Be consistent with my training!
Wabo: enjoy the Spurs' celebrations! Did you go? Only saw the first half hour and missed all the fun!
What: 5.25k easy Why: interesting discussion tonight...some said enjoyment, others said the health benefits. No-one had race times as a priority, although I guess I would have had that high up on the list a few decades ago.
