Gosh Dragon, is it really 11 years since Kira died? I really thought I remembered that from the time, but I mustn't have known you then. I've always been really impressed with the good work you've done for FSID (that's the right one, isn't it?) These forums are mightily good for support indeed.

And another grandchild on the way for you! image

Cake all gone now sadly - probably a good thing for me!

    Hello from Sweden image

Having a good time here and just checking in quickly before bed.  Have managed to stay upright in amongst some slippery patches on the pavements but mostly excellent snow-clearing, liberal gritting and some heated pavements image have made all the difference!

That said, I will be glad to get back to London tomorrow.

    Hope all is well xx

    Evening,

Just looking in to say that I am fine. Was able to have breakfast but nothing after 7.15. Not too much waiting at the hozzie and I was sedated for the procedure so I don't remember anything about it. I have a hiatus hernia and some gastritis (which is probably caused by the anti-inflams that I have taken for nearly 5 years) so I have to speak to my GP at some stage. I slept at home for much of the afternoon and am now bright eyed and bushy tailed.

    G'day each,

Glad it went well Slugs, well, you know what I mean.

That koffenkold is hanging on Jenni.  R and R is needed.

Seems Melds ran off to join the circus, which is ironic because I heard that XB ran away from the circus to join an accountancy firm.

I'm back doing tiny bits on the bike which is ok, my goal being to get/keep my legs in good fettle for those nice people at the hozzie.

  • Options

    Afternoon,

(((Jenni))) hope that the headache stayed away today.

Hurrah for Larry! I'm so glad that surgery has been avoided.

    (((Tubs)))

Dragon, you lost Kira a little before I came into the lounge. I do remember how very powerful your fundraising statement was for the next year's mara.

Yums, it's good to know that No1's problems don't look insurmountable.

I've got a bit of a sore throat today and am kanackered. We had a carpet delivered yesterday and the spare bedroom needed to be cleared out so that the fitter can come in tomorrow. We have also been out and ordered a new bed - we're moving into the spare bedroom and getting a bigger bed image

    Evening all

i may have had a little snooze when I got home, I'm far too old for 4 hrs sleep before work these days.

we had a lovely evening, the Royal Albert Hall lends itself to so much, so adaptable. We had a box below the upper circle so perfect location in terms of perspective.

some lovely shows of strength and flexibility although I do find some of the contortions a bit weird from young ladies who could fall down a drain sideways and never sniffed a mince pie at Christmas.

todays early shift was a trial for sure, luckily we were very busy so I didn't have chance to snore on my keyboard.

been having a text conversation with my mother regards dog theft as I 'shared' the recent theft of a french bulldog (called Margot which made me smile), you have to be so so careful with dogs these days, you are less safe even on walks. Keep your dog in ear sight AND eyesight.

sluggy hope you are feeling comfortable and I hope you get some positive results

And talking of which **vibes for Tubs** as I'm sure she is hoping for them too

chugs you are excused spare room cleaning as it is far too dusty for sore throats image

What everyone else said to everyone else.  I is a knackered onesie - and it's only half Donna's fault.  She has decided that sleeping at the bottom of the stairs is THE ONLY WAY, not shut in the kitchen as per our previous incumbents.  I value my paintwork way too much to make a battle of wills over it.  Just gotta hope Mr O does NOT shut her in the kitchen when he leaves for work tomorrow (6.20) or I may just divorce him.  Me being out of bed before 7.15 is really not a good omen for the rest of the day.

That being said, my gorgeous girly is doing really well.  She enjoys walkies - until we see other dogs or a human is on the same pavement and heading her way.  Then she cowers and turns to jelly.  It is beginning to improve.  She has (re) discovered her appetite.  And, at 2 ish years old, enjoys careering around the garden like a 6 month old pup.  I'm thinking that as she was a street dog in Romania a proper puppyhood never really happened, and it needs to now for her developmental health.  So we chase each other like lunatics round the garden.  She loves it.

Also, the germs that I thought I was getting haven't really materialised in the snot and snuffle mode.  No, lucky me gets the sudden crash in energy.  So all this charging round tends to leave me feeling like a limp biscuit by this time of night.  The running hasn't happened in over a week.  I just don't have the oomph.  It's having a knock-on effect on my 1000 mile challenge but I really don't care.

Hugs all round and I promise to check in more often.  xxx

Should also add that we had a seriously late night last night so not a lot of sleep was had.  Hence why an early start this morning wasn't popular.

Yums, glad the school had some constructive ideas for no. 1. They've seen this all before, of course. It goes with the beast. But it can be a relief to a parent to hear that!

Sue, I too remember how beautifully you have honoured Kira's memory, and continue to do so. xxx

Nogs, your fit and toned legs will probably stun the hospital into total silence! Don't imagine they see many as fit as you image

Larry, what good news that you don't have to have any surgery image

Meldy, a heavy shift on top of 4 hours of sleep--ugh! At least the time at work didn't drag, I guess. But the dog theft thing sounds pretty serious----do you mean people are snatching dogs literally from their owners on the path? Surely not? (Mind you, anyone who offered Monty a bit of sausage could entice him away in no time image

Onesie, I think with a rescue dog sometimes compromise is necessary. Monty won't sleep in the laundry room, where our other dogs have always slept. Monty slept just outside our door (in our room if he could sneak in) but Mr C was terrified of tripping over him; we have compromised on his sleeping downstairs in C1's room (where I am sure he sleeps on the bed even though he's not supposed to...) Donna probably had a pretty rough start, so it's wonderful that she is now having a chance to play, and run around. Must be brilliant for her. And as Meldy says, approval and kindness even from passing strangers all help to start seeing the world as a nice place. But YOU sound awfully tired, so REST. Your running shoes will be waiting when you feel like it again.

Tubs! Welcome home! Hope your eyes are starting to feel better, and that after all the mess with the hospital you have had some good food and proper rest at home and feeling more like yourself again.

((((DL's back))) Ow! That really hurts. Hope it eases up in the course of the day.

Mr C and I are about to go have lunch with C1 and a couple of others who are my former colleagues, now her colleagues. And --- are you sitting down? --- this morning I actually chugged. Yes. Not fast, not far, but I did. And it was lovely.  But the last 18 months have been a catalogue of things going wrong every time I tried to restart so this time I'm taking it really slowly.

Melds, I'm glad you enjoyed CdS but sorry that you are short on sleep.

Sterkte to those of you needed to sort out vehicles, MOTs and whatever.

Thanks for your good wishes. I'm fine thanks, completely over the procedure and looking forward to our weekend in Lahndan. SB has booked the3 of us somewhere for dinner on Saturday evening, we want to have a look at this during the day. First however, we have to take MIL to her hozzie appointment. I don't know whether I will look in before we go, or whether I will take the lappy with us.

Sluggie. I Hope you are feeling less groggy today.

It seems like I turned my back and missed a Waister anniversary. Sorry.

I have indeed been re-xrayed and re-plastered. I have also been for a run outside!! I have been using my treadmill at home but today just couldn't resist getting out in the fresh air for a plod

Meldy- I saw the missing Frenchie post via a bulldog fb page. So many of them are going missing or being stolen. The ridiculous prices to buy are not helping. I saw one the other day for 4,500 pounds. Horrendous. They have specific health issues and a lot ending up in rescue places. We have applied to become foster carers for these little sweethearts. We are hoping Ozzy will like having them here.

    That's a nice idea Larry

I've also heard in greyhound circles that in Essex there have been walkers approached by guys in vans or with vans nearby who are eyeing up their greyhounds..........

One lady has already involved the police as he was trying to cut her off from exiting the park / area she was in with her dog.......can't be too careful these days

A few years ago in Kent there was a spate of kidnap for ransom of dogs........people were getting notes on their dogs collars saying "neutered" so they weren't stolen for breeding so thieves were taking them and then trying to ransom them back to their owners.......

There’s certainly lots of angst going on here at the moment. Let’s hope it’ll all settle down ready for Spring.

I’ve been for a walk in the woods today, definite signs of the Rhododendrons with new green shoots and lots of cheerful snowdrops.

Well done on the run Larry, but do take care, your balance is going to be slightly off with that there plaster, you don’t want another fall.

Enjoy London Sluggie. I’m up there next month myself, I haven’t decided what to do with it as yet. I’ll be staying in the Victoria area on the Friday night, if anyone has any suggestions.

Podds, strangely we here less about the 'ransom' ones and more now that are stolen, it's easy money and less interaction needed to get the money

Sluggy, I'd love to go and see that exhibition, I think it is at Tring Museum for a while.

another early today, thankfully busy again so time passed quickly, 10am to 8pm tomorrow which is a dog awful shift

Well done Lazza, looks like a step or two forward.

Dogknapping has a quite a history, but seems much more prevalent these days.

Sue, those early harbingers are one of the reasons I love my work.  They bring so much cheer.

Not much happening on Planet Nog, Penny still has cabin fever and is very frustrated.

    She's moving forward very slowly.

She's made a date and walnut cake which is cooling(way too slowly)
