This looks a good introduction to ultra runs. How are the directions and signage for this, ie. is it good enough for someone new to the area?
In previous years, there has been a half-way option. Is this still available? Any cut-off times?
July is not really the time to run long distances. How have people found this?
HI Kathy - its a two loop course that is way marked so you will not get lost. There is not a 15 mile option but as its a two loop you can finish at halfway.
No cut off time as such, although its not a walking event. Last finisher last year was 8:31. There is an early start for anyone expecting to be over 6 to 7 hours.
Any other questions let me know.
Hope to see you there… Ian
Entries starting to come in so book your place now!
Any chance of it entries being sold out?
I was going to decide after my marathon. I'm not sure I have the stamina for 30 miles.
Hi Kathy - Sorry for delay in responding. Don't think you will have an issue finishing if you've done a marathon - its only 3.8 more miles.
Prize money on offer at the Croydon Ultra
1st place - £50, 2nd place £25 and 3rd place £10 for both mens and women field. Also £50 for breaking the course record held by David Ross which is 3:48.
There will also be a range of spot prizes.
I guess its all about how fast you can run 30 miles then?
I hope you raise plenty of funds.
Good luck.
Hi Ian, I intend to be running this again this year - it will be my first ultra since my tendon injury! I'll even get around to doing the entering bit one of these days... See you there.
Entries coming in so register now… less than 5 weeks to the off!!
Two weeks to go - are you in?
Sorry Ian, I fell and fractured my fibula a week ago, so I won't be able to do this after all. More than a little frustrated...
Gosh Debra …. sorry to hear about that … rest up and get better soon.
Thanks.
I'll be runnning with my daughter Sophie and her boyfriend Max - family outing. Haven't run the event before but can see the route is mostly pretty trails and lanes. People can be a bit snobby about Croydon but right on the the edge of the green belt there's plenty of really good running around here. Should be a good day.....
Entries are online on Runners World for the 6th Croydon Ultra 30 miles. All funds raised go to Parkinson UK.
Hi Ian, what's the date this year? I'll probably be up for it if I don't break my ankle again or anything else stupid!
Hi Debra,
The date is July 3rd!!!
Hope your training is going well.
Should be able to make that and should be recovered after Comrades. Training is going well so far.
You've got tons of time post Comrades!!
Five weeks should be enough, yes.
